It is said that Sendan is one of the three largest trees in Japan. Today, one of Yamaguchi Prefecture has withered, and Daisendan in Kotohira Town and Daisendan in Awa City, Tokushima Prefecture have become representative. It is located a little far from Omotesando of Kotohira Palace, and although few people visit it, it has the charm of trees. It was during the fall of leaves in winter, but the branches are really wonderful.

the power of the big tree...

    Original Text

This is Daisendan in Kotohira Town. It is about 300 years old, 18 meters high and 7 meters around the trunk, and is designated as a national natural monument. Admission was restricted and I couldn't see it nearby, but I've felt the power of a big tree.

It was a tree I saw without knowing it on the way to the inn. There was a festival, and it was a very big tree, so when I came to the city, it was a very old big tree. it was very nice to see at night.

    High さ 18mも natural memorials

    Original Text

I found it while walking around Konpira Onsenkyo. It seems to be a natural monument with a magnificent large tree with a height of 18m. I think it would be nice to take a walk.

It is a giant sandalwood tree that rises in the park away from the hustle and bustle of visiting Kompara on the southwest side of Kotohira Elementary School. According to the guide, the tree is 300 years old, and the appearance of spreading the branches is quite spectacular. Perhaps to prevent accidents due to falling branches, I was not allowed to enter the tree near the tree.
