What travelers say:

Thirty-three halls were built in 1164, burned to ashes in 1249 and rebuilt in 1266. The hall was named after the 33 halls separated by the 33 halls, the longest in Japan. The 33 halls were famous for their 1001 Guanyin worships. The main hall building, the main body, the seated Sente Kannon, the corridor, and the statue of the 28 Buddha of the wood behind the main Buddha, the statue of wind God and thunder God are listed as national treasures. The largest of the main hall is a statue carved in 1254 years, and the statue of the Buddha is a wooden statue of 11 Senju Sengen Kannon, about 3 meters high, and the left and right sides are 500 small Kannon statues arranged in rows. The visual effects are quite powerful.

Additional Information

Introduction

Sanjusangen-do Temple, also known as the Hall of the Lotus King, boasts one of Japan's few long wooden buildings, its main hall stretching from north to south. Although the exterior is simple and austere, the interior is shockingly different. The temple is filled with Japanese National Treasures, including Buddhist statues and cultural relics, and it is especially famous for the impressive number of statues of the Thousand Armed Kannon. These statues vary in appearance, from differences in clothing and musical instruments to expressions and postures. The temple is also known for its archery competition which is held here every year.
