Damaru Department Store の
Original Text
It is a monument to the Satsuma Mansion near the Daimaru Department Store. It seems that this area used to be a Satsuma mansion, but the remains are only this monument and there is no remnant.
During the Edo period, I thought that the only clan residences of each clan were the kurayashiki in Edo and Osaka, but it seems that they were also placed in Kyoto. It is called Kyo mansion. This is along Higashitoin-dori, west of Daimaru Kyoto store, and there is only a stone monument and an explanation version on the site. According to the explanation version, it was destroyed by fire several times and rebuilt every time, but it was destroyed by fire due to the Kinmon Incident at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate and was abandoned. There is a stone monument indicating the site of the residence of the Satsuma domain in the site, but in front of the stone monument, the vehicle stops, and ... for photography
I stopped by when I took a walk, but since there is only a stone monument, it is a place where you can take pictures at best. This is not a place where people who are not interested go all the way.
I found it during a morning walk in Kyoto. The place where the Satsuma domain mansion was located in the Edo period. Now Daimaru. This is also old history. Saigodon and Ryoma Sakamoto met for the first time.
I've heard that during the peace period such as the residences of each clan in Kyoto, the main job is to select items 々 sent to Edo and Kunimoto (kimono, makeup tools, etc.), or to sell them from Kunimoto who arrives in Kyoto. At the end of the Edo period, it turned around, especially Satsuma, and others, probably started to move with the fate of Japan. The car stopped where there was an explanation, and it was a difficult place to shoot.

There is a monument beside Daimaru.

It was at the west exit of Kyoto Daimaru.
