Some sound advice to peeps travelling to London for the 1st time#2024mapped After two trips to London (making all kinda mistakes), here are my few pieces of advice: 1) Transportation - Paying with a contactless card, it’s automatically capped at £8.5/day (which already covered the journey to 99% of the attractions in London) - Night tubes (5 lines) runs whole night on Fri/Sat so people who wanna experience London nightlife without breaking the bank to call Uber can stay close to the related stations. 2) Attraction - for London skyline viewing, there are many free observatory than the Shard (which is crazily expensive, eg. Horizon 22 > Sky Garden > the Garden at 120 / the Post Building > level 10 at Tate Modern - for markets hopping, Borough market has very great cheeses (pay attention to a booth selling 15-month Comte and another selling all sorta liquor-infused cheeses); Leadenhall market has very cool, classical-influenced architecture; Portobello road market is long but rather boring to me, however. - for museum: many great museums in UK are free-entry (much loves), which could be a blissful nuisance because there would be too many to go; prioritize Victoria and Albert Museums and, of course, the British Museum. - to cover most of the London trademarks in the most efficient manner, a stroll along Thames River (in a day or two) would be a good idea to consider—but I’d suggest do it from east to west, coz many building doesn’t look that good against the sunlight. *feel free to ask any questions in the comments*Shih Yuin Chew5

Stirring and inspirational, I always find walking down the River Thames to be therapeutic. There is always something that is familiar and new that catches your attention, with many options for activities and dining lining both sides, along with many of London's iconic landmarks and buildings identifiable along the way.
The River Thames is the lifeblood of London and a symbol of the city’s rich history and culture. Stretching 215 miles from Gloucestershire to the North Sea, it flows through the heart of London, passing some of the UK’s most iconic landmarks, including the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, and Tower Bridge. A boat cruise is one of the best ways to explore the Thames, offering unique perspectives of the city. Options range from sightseeing tours to dinner cruises.
Visit River Thames was an incredible experience! I hopped on a river cruise and got to see London’s iconic landmarks, like the Tower Bridge, Big Ben, and the London Eye, from the water. The mix of historic and modern architecture along the river was stunning. The gentle breeze and lively commentary made it both relaxing and informative. It’s such a unique way to soak in the charm of London!
Visiting the River Thames was a highlight of my trip to London. The river's iconic presence winds through the heart of the city, flanked by historic landmarks like the Tower of London, Big Ben, and the Houses of Parliament. A river cruise offered a unique perspective, allowing me to appreciate the blend of ancient and modern architecture along its banks.Walking along the South Bank, I enjoyed vibrant street performances, cozy riverside cafes, and stunning views of the skyline.
I was able to cruise around River Thames through the local Uber boat rides. I started from the O2 arena dock to Westminster pier and vice versa. I was pleases and satisfied with the trip since for £7-10 I get to see the famous landmarks as well as the little things that you can’t notice everyday as a tourist or local in London such adorable and appealing flower surrounded houses and pubs on the riverbanks, while feeling the fresh wisp of air on your face.
Beautiful river, pleasant walks all the way along, lots of tourist attractions along it and nice place to stop and admire the view.
Very impressive size of the river Themes! You can see lots of boats and can even use Uber boat as a river taxi with your credit or Oyster card. Also I would advise you guys to take a boat trip on the river with a guide that won’t disappoint you. There are so many famous hidden gems on the river and along the bank side. Highly recommended!
I live near the river Thames and walking by the endless banks is a true pleasure. you can enjoy the Thames even on a gloomy grey day like in the photos I have taken
