The JPL Open Day is perfect for adults and children. There are many things to see, activities and food trucks. In addition, the volunteers who work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and share some of the work they are doing with the public are amazing. We can't wait to come a few more times.
All of the American robotic space exploration is assembled through the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The spacecraft is conceived, designed and assembled here. Mission control teams are all here. The deep-space network of the US, Spain and Australia's radio paraboloid antennas is controlled from here. You will learn about all of this and even more on the 2.5 hour trip. However, it is difficult to buy tickets. A large number of tickets are open for booking some day a few months ago and will be sold out soon. Not so much tour so take the opportunity to sign up and design a tour around that date. You will be happy for what you do. Tip: the Jet Propulsion Lab parking is very difficult to grab so get there early. It is a place to work on and off.
Many astronomy enthusiasts come to the lab to tell about the power of the United States in space exploration. Visits require an advance reservation.
