St. Austin Church (commonly known as Gangding St. IgrejadeSaoAgostinho), located in front of the Gangding of Macau, is part of Macau's historic city. The Church of St. Austin was founded by Spanish friars in 1591. The church was originally built very simple, and the priests covered the roof with sunflower leaves to cover the wind and rain; Whenever the wind blows, the sunflower leaves fly with the wind, the Chinese look far away, feel that this scene like the dragon must erect, called the church "Longxu Temple", and then in Cantonese to change to "Longxu Temple". After the church was rebuilt in 1874, it forms today's scale. The church's annual two-day cruising of the Statue of Jesus, which has a history of more than 400 years, is one of the important festivals of the Catholic Church in Macau. In 2005, it was included in the World Heritage List as part of the historic city of Macau.

St. Augustine’s Church was built by Italian catholic Augustine priests in 1586 and three years later taken over by Portuguese. It is one of oldest churches of Macau as well as Macau’s first church for English Mass.
Can you imagine the majestic and holy church of St. Austin in Macau, built in early 1586, with palm leaves as a roof? Because the sea breeze blows the roof like a dragon, it is called the Dragon Temple. It's just that now I can't experience the landscape of the dragon must float, and more of it is the imprint of history.
Just opposite the Gangding Opera House, only a few tens of meters away from the Hedong Library, you can visit three attractions for half a day.
