Trip to Marseille 🇫🇷
It was a weekend getaway to Marseille, France. We started our day by exploring the vibrant heart of Marseille, the Vieux-Port (Old Port). As we walked along the picturesque waterfront, we were mesmerized by the sight of fishing boats and luxury yachts docked side by side. The lively atmosphere, with street performers and bustling cafes, set the perfect tone for our weekend adventure. We would recommend taking the time to stroll through the harbor, soaking in the sights and sounds of this historic area. Don’t miss the morning fish market, where you can watch local fishermen selling their fresh catch, perfect for some authentic photo opportunities 📸
📍 Quai des Belges, 13001 Marseille, France
After the Old Port, we visited Le Panier, Marseille's oldest neighborhood, filled with colorful buildings, charming boutiques, and art galleries. We wandered through the narrow streets, stumbled upon quaint courtyards, and admired the street art that gives this district its unique character.
📍Le Panier, 13002 Marseille, France
For lunch, we headed to Chez Fonfon, a local institution renowned for its Bouillabaisse. The rich, flavorful seafood stew 🍲 was just as good as we had heard, and we savored every bite of the perfectly seasoned broth and fresh fish 🐟 This place is popular, so we’d recommend making a reservation in advance.
💰€45 per person.
📍140 Rue du Vallon des Auffes, 13007 Marseille, France
The next morning, we embarked on a short hike in the Calanques National Park. The dramatic limestone cliffs plunging into turquoise waters were breathtaking, and we highly recommend taking the trail to Calanque de Sugiton. The trail was moderately challenging but rewarding, and we cooled off with a dip in the crystal-clear cove. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.
📍 Route de la Gineste, 13009 Marseille, France
In the afternoon, we visited the *Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde, which offers the best panoramic views of the city. The climb to the basilica is steep, but we found it well worth the effort. The stunning architecture and beautiful mosaics inside are a must-see, and the view from the top was simply unforgettable. I would recommend spending some time here to take in the sights and capture some great photos 📸
📍Address: Rue Fort du Sanctuaire, 13281 Marseille, France
To end the trip, we treated ourselves to L’Epuisette, a Michelin-starred restaurant known for its exceptional Mediterranean cuisine. The tasting menu was a culinary journey, featuring dishes like sea bass carpaccio and lavender-infused lamb. Each course was beautifully presented, and the flavors were exquisite 🙌🙌🙌

The Cathedral of the Virgin Mary is a symbol of Marseille, built on a hill 150 meters high, where it overlooks the city of Marseille, the port of Marseille and the Mediterranean.
Looking far away at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Garde, the gray-white marble building, the gorgeous new Byzantine church, will definitely attract you there. Inside the church, the red-white marble and the magnificent frescoes look extraordinarily gorgeous.
From all angles of Marseille, the golden addition of the Virgin and Son at the top of the temple can be clearly seen. This image of the Virgin and Son, which is also the protection of sailors, fishermen and all Marseilles people, is also visible. Recommended reason: Under the Temple of the Virgin Mary, there is a viewing platform, which overlooks the entire Marseille and Marseille port, and visits the sea. You can also see the prototype of the prison in Count of Monte Cristo: Fort Eve. The viewing platform is especially suitable for watching the sunset. The sunset is late in the summer, you can come early, first enjoy the interior of the temple, otherwise you can't enter the door at 6 o'clock.
Like the Cathedral of Our Lady of Garde Very comfortable place Good for a walk Amen
The commanding height of the Old Port of Marseille, you can get a 360-degree view of the whole of Marseille. I think it is one of the must-see attractions. There are many sailboat ornaments inside Notre Dame, which is quite unique. Notre Dame is super beautiful. There are several floors from top to bottom. The bottom floor is a small chapel, which is only allowed to be entered by people of faith.
Notre-Dame de la Garde Cathedral is the symbol of Marseille. It is built on a hill 150 meters high. From here you can overlook the whole city of Marseille and the Mediterranean scenery. From the Old Port of Marseille, you can see the Notre-Dame de la Garde Cathedral standing on the high ground, and from the church you can overlook the panoramic view of Marseille and the Ile d'If. The exterior and interior of the church are very spectacular and beautiful. Above the main building of the cathedral is a golden 9.7-meter-high gilded statue of the Virgin Mary. It is said that this glittering statue of the Virgin Mary can be seen from almost any angle in Marseille. The cathedral is a tourist attraction that cannot be ignored when visiting Marseille.
