I can imagine that there was a pretty strict gate.

I feel that the most common way is to attack Hirayama Castle like Matsuyama Castle in order to attack the top of the mountain as the main enclosure, but not directly attack the Sannomaru (Horinouchi), which is a flat ground, and then Ninomaru. Therefore, you can imagine that Higashimimon is a fairly solid structure. For that reason, I feel that building a facility like a horse will be more solid, but I think it has become very popular in western countries.
The left hand side, just across the bridge from Higashiboribata to Horinouchi, is a little high, and you can see a slight scale of the stone wall of Matsuyama Castle Castle. Looking at the explanation board, it was the remains of the Higashimikado Yaguradai stone wall. The Higashimimon gate in the Edo period was a turret gate with a wide frontage of a two-story hall 々, and the large stone walls on both sides supporting the gate and the turret tower above it seem to have played an important role in defense of Sannomaru.
