in the pine forest by the sea
Original Text
When I saw the art on the site of an elementary school that I visited at the Setouchi Triennale, I went out from the back, and immediately there was a shrine, and a pine forest spread out on the sandy beach. It seemed to be loved by the locals to pray for the safety of the voyage.
When I visited Megijima at the Setouchi Art Festival, I visited this shrine, which was the art exhibition hall for bonsai. The stone torii gate felt very old. The precincts were very large, and the art venue was a building on the left side of the torii gate. I thought it was just right to stop by for a walk when the tourists were gone.
A torii gate stood near Megi Port. Standing toward the sea, it seemed to show the relationship between the island and the sea. Grace, it was more like a shrine that was closely related to life than for tourists.
