Kataharacho Shopping Street is a long shopping street with a glass roof. The nearest station is Kotoden Kotohira Kataragencho Station, but it takes only ten minutes to walk from Takamatsu-Chiku Port. There are some drugstores and fruit shops in Kataharamachi shopping street, and there are some cheap clothing stores. On the side close to Shinkong Mitsukoshi, where it meets Marugame and Hyogo shopping streets, the whole environment becomes more elegant.
The central shopping streets of Hyogo, Katahara (east and west), Marugame, Shishidori, Minamishincho, Tokiwa, and Tamachi are collectively called Takamatsu’s central shopping streets, all of which are covered with glass vaulted ceilings. With a total length of 2.7 kilometers, it is known as the longest shopping street in Japan, longer than the Shinsaibashi Shopping Street in Osaka. There is a stop on the Kotoden Kotohira Line in Katahara-cho. You can take a stop at Takamatsu Chikko and get off here. There are Takamatsu’s popular gourmet restaurant Kosuketo, and Daikoku Pharmacy.
This is the Kataharamachi shopping street in Takamatsu. It takes about 15 20 minutes to walk from Takamatsu Port. You can also take Kotoden Kotohira from Takamatsu Chiku Port and get off at Kataharacho. Shinkong Mitsukoshi in Takamatsu is here, and there is also the famous bone-to-bird shop Orchid Maru, so it is very convenient to eat or buy. Just be aware that the closing time will be earlier, and many stores are closed around 19:00, but the drugstore is still open.
