A shrine famous as Oyamazaki Oiza

    Original Text

It is a venerable shrine that is said to be the former shrine of Iwashimizu Hachimangu on the opposite bank of the Yodo River. It was solicited from USA Hachimangu in Oita in the early Heian period. Since the production of sesame oil began at this shrine, oil refining manufacturers have a strong faith as the birthplace of essential oils. In the Muromachi period, he had a strong authority as Oyamazaki Oyuza, which had monopoly rights for oil, but after the Edo period, it declined to Xu 々 and now it is a small precinct.
