US Steel Tower

The U.S. Steel Building is the tallest building in Pittsburgh and a landmark building here. Made of steel, it is 256 meters high and was built in 1970. The walls of the building are covered with reddish-brown steel plates produced by the U.S. Steel Corporation, which sparkle from a distance.
The ground floor of the building retains a giant rivet decorative wall that symbolizes the civilization of the steel industry, and the X-shaped diagonal bracing structure on the facades of some floors is in line with the genes of Pittsburgh as a bridge capital. Although the 64th floor observation deck is not open to the public, visitors can look up at its industrial aesthetic lines at the Golden Triangle Plaza at the foot of the building, or take in the magnificent city view of the confluence of three rivers through the nearby Mount Washington observation deck. As a representative work of American post-war modernist architecture, its angular Gothic outline forms a time-space dialogue with the 19th-century stone buildings on the Allegheny River. When night falls, the translucent amber light and shadow throughout the building become a silent witness to the city's transformation from a steel giant to a technology center.
