Bad vibes.
We went to see "A Christmas Carol," and were excited about, what we believed, was going to be a nice day out. We left at intermission, only so we didn't bother anyone, or we would have left earlier. There was a lot of dry humor, that we were not interested in, and that, I believe, kids just didn't understand, or was not appropriate for the show, We also had a person, who I thought was talking, only to find out she was hard of hearing, and had a loud speaker that was repeating everything in her ear. I wasn't the only one that was disappointed, the couple in front of us was looking at her also. We didn't know what this devise was until after we talked to an attendant. I don't want anyone to think I have bad things to say about heating impaired individuals, but you would think, with all the technology today, that the Martin Marietta Center would find, either a place where the listening device can not be heard by a lot.of people, or in my book, find some technology that works a little better. We also did not understand the words for a lot of songs, in our belief, the speaker system, or loud music, was to blame. Needless to say, our day was spoiled. As I said earlier, we left at intermission. We willnot recommend this play to anyone.

The last visit was to see Mary Poppins, but I've been going to Memorial Auditorium my entire life from Oklahoma and Big River in the late 80s to the Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol in the 90s, Rent and West Side Story in the 2000s, and dance recitals and tens of other shows along the way. The space is beautiful. I remember being mesmerized by the huge sparkly chandeliers when I was a child and they're just as magical now. Nothing beats a show, be it off-broadway or NCTheatre.

Great experience!
Beautiful location and interior. We saw a show here and everything was perfect! Plenty of places to get refreshments.
