Three Brothers, Latvian Museum of Architecture

In the center of Riga Old Town, there are three connected buildings, known as the Three Brothers, which are the oldest buildings in Riga. The appearance is quite unique and it is good for taking pictures, but it is not easy to find the angle.

The Three Brothers are actually three generations of a family, representing buildings from different periods. They are a famous attraction in Riga because they have stories to tell. In fact, they are just three houses. In my eyes, there are many buildings that are more beautiful than them.

The Three Brothers House is located behind the church square in the ancient city of Riga, the oldest existing residential complex in Riga. From a distance, the three brothers' houses are like three blocks of different shapes and colors, which are tightly held together, showing how the Riga people used their small and limited land space. The three brothers house was built in three different periods, representing the architectural styles of three different periods in the Middle Ages of Riga. Among them, the 17th building on the far right was built in the 15th century and is the oldest residential house in Latvia, with mountain walls, small windows (evading the window tax at the time), and stone walls on the door all telling the story of the year. The middle building 19 was built in the 17th century and was renovated in the 18th century due to the influence of the Dutch Renaissance. The leftmost building 21 was built around the 18th century, the youngest of the three brothers' houses. The three-sister house echoes the three-sister house in Tallinn, Estonia's capital, and hopes to have the opportunity to visit it in the future.

Located on the north side of the Dome Church Square, the specific house number on Masa Pils Street is 17/19/21 They are a model of the different styles of buildings in Riga Old Town. These three buildings represent the different architectural styles of Riga in different periods of the Middle Ages. They are also the most complete stone buildings in Riga to date. It is said that these three buildings were built by a family of three generations, which shows how the Riga people used small land space in that era to build their homes. The architectural style is a bit similar to the Golden Lane in Prague (the Golden Road of Prague) The name of the three-brother house echoes the "three-sister house" in Tallinn, Estonia, and the house itself is very general. One of the houses is now open as an art gallery.

Because it was 4 pm and it was raining again, it was almost dark, and only 2 photos were taken outside. The building looks quite special from the outside and is beautiful.
