We visited the cathedral at night. So beautiful to see in person. Unfortunately we could not go inside as it was already closed. But the view from outside was stunning!
Lovely place to visit and for photo taking. It is located up on a hill near myeongdong. The exterior and interior is nice. There is a small mapletree at the side.
Myeongdong Cathedral is the Church for Archdiocese of Seoul and was also the birthplace for the Roman Catholic Church community in Korea.
The Mingdong Catholic Church is near the Mingdong shopping mall. It is very close to it. It is very special that there is such a solemn and quiet church standing in the downtown area. If you have visited various cathedrals in Europe, and then look at the Mingdong Catholic Church, it may feel a little insipid, not grand enough, not grand enough, not skillful enough. But every building has its unique charm and respect. The Mingdong Catholic Church is a Gothic building, and red bricks add a retro-nostalgic style. Looking up, the sunshine just passed through its green apex and sprinkled to the earth. At this moment, it seems to feel its solemnity and grandeur. The church can be visited or photographed free of charge, but don't disturb those who are worshipping to show respect. When you can go shopping in Mingdong, you can feel such a tranquility, especially beautiful.
The full name is "Myeongdong Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Seoul". It is the oldest local church in Korea and the symbol of the Korean Catholic Church. Address: 2 Myeongdong-gil, Jung-gu Transportation: Take Subway Line 2 to Exit 5 of Euljiro Station, or take Subway Line 4 to Exit 8 of Myeongdong Station, and then walk for about 10 minutes In fact, I passed by this place unintentionally while strolling in Myeongdong. It is not a particularly famous attraction that you must visit, but in the evening, watching the believers praying peacefully and the female staff eating lunch boxes and chatting under the tree, everything was quiet and beautiful.
I traveled to Seoul in autumn and happened to live near Myeongdong, so I went to see this legendary super romantic Catholic church. Sure enough, I just walked a short distance from Myeongdong Central Road and looked up to see the top of the church. The appearance is majestic and the architecture is very spectacular. It is the first Gothic spire building in South Korea. It also attracts many religious people because of this Western classical beauty. In addition to religious colors, such a unique building has also become a symbol of Myeongdong. Most foreign tourists come here to take pictures and check in. ⛪️The interior decoration is solemn and the majestic stone pillars. Even if it is not Sunday, there will be many believers here. Most Koreans believe in Catholicism. This is not only the birthplace of the Korean Catholic Church, but also the center of Korean Catholicism. Transportation Guide: Subway Line 2 to Euljiro Entrance Station Exit 5/Subway Line 4 Myeongdong Station Exit 8 Tickets: Free
Free visits, concise Gothic architecture, solemn atmosphere, at the end of a commercial street like Mingdong, there is a sudden and bright visual impact. When I go there, it's snowing. It feels good. There are people getting married. Many irrelevant people are watching the excitement. I am not ashamed to disturb such a solemn wedding ceremony and rush out. I turn back to see the statue of Notre Dame and the underground church. It's a good place for Mingdong shopping to adjust their body and mind
Mingdong Catholic Church is located in Mingdong District, the busiest downtown area of Seoul. It is the largest Catholic center in Seoul. It is also the symbol of Mingdong. The church building is very solemn and solemn. The rosette lamps are even more beautiful at night.
