💖 Excellent stay experience
The hotel service is super thoughtful. After a riverside walk at night, the room is already prepared with a turndown service, and the slippers are thick and soft, very comfortable to step on. The room is also equipped with a smart control panel; just call “Xiao Mian Xiao Mian” to control the room, super convenient. The amenities are from Penhaligon's, and the hairdryer is Dyson, full of quality.
🌟 Highlights revealed
- Shanghai-style design: The hotel’s design inspiration comes from the “Mansion Secret Garden,” blending Eastern aesthetics with classic elements of old Western-style houses. The leather vintage sofas and carved cabinets in the lobby, along with old maps and photos in the public areas, make you feel like you are in a Shanghai mansion from the last century.
- Night ceremony: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:28 PM, the hotel holds a Shanghai-style night ceremony in the first-floor lobby. As the melody of "In the Mood for Love" plays, cheongsam dancers gracefully perform, and guests can enjoy a specially prepared “Shanghai cocktail,” creating a fully immersive atmosphere.

Interesting building and diverse collection of art ranging from modern, to Chinese paintings and prints, to sculptures and futuristic cars. Definitely worth a look!
Shanghai residents are so lucky! They have so many excellent resources right on their doorstep: culture and art, leisure and entertainment, various lectures, etc., all if you're willing to put in the effort. The China Art Museum is one of my regular haunts. The exhibits are all of national-level high standard, like this one. And it's free! The staff in the exhibition hall are also extremely helpful; kudos to them! 👍 It would be a real shame not to take advantage of Shanghai's superior resources! Before visiting this exhibition, I also signed up for a lecture by Professor Zhang Shuguang, which gave me a better understanding of how to appreciate oil paintings and the absorption and development of Western oil painting in my country—I benefited greatly from it. What are you waiting for? Act now!
Before the holidays, I visited the Shanghai Art Museum (China Art Museum) to see the annual exhibition "Shanghai Modern," which brought back many insights and memories... This exhibition, featuring over 600 works across diverse media, including woodcuts, propaganda posters, architecture, oil paintings, traditional Chinese paintings, photography, film, comics, and music, comprehensively charted the trajectory of Shanghai's modernization since the 20th century. It was truly impressive. 👉Three major sections reveal Shanghai's cultural DNA 🔴Red Romance Lu Xun's "New Woodcut Movement" was incredibly influential. New Year pictures and propaganda posters after 1949 became emblematic of "people's aesthetics." Shen Roujian's "Starting from Hard Work" firmly took center stage. Its fiery red and rich composition embody the essence of the era, vividly showcasing the transition from elite awakening to widespread resonance in art. 🔵Daily Life in Modu Immerse yourself in Shanghainese lifestyle. Calendar girls, tin toys, old records, and Shanghainese furniture transport you to the golden age of "Made in Shanghai." The fusion of East and West, created by pioneers like Lin Fengmian, made "Made in China" a global aesthetic icon. Films are both dream machines and translators of Hollywood narratives, telling stories of the alleyway era. ⚫️New Waves in Shanghai Classic masterpieces from the Shanghainese era gather! Rarely seen original works by renowned artists include Zhang Daqian's "A Foreign Woman Holding a Pang," Pang Xunqin's "Chrysanthemum Reflections," "Banana Leaf Canal," and Wu Changshuo's "Peony." Also on display is "A Difference Between a Single Thought," a key work from the 2000 Shanghai Biennale. Artist Chen Yanyin's creative use of roses and inverted IV bottles illustrates the subtle and moving connection between art and emotion. 🔘Other Exhibitions The China Art Museum currently has many concurrent exhibitions on view, so plan your schedule and see them all! 🔹"Classic of Mountains and Seas: The Secret Realm of Zhulong: Immersive Naked-Eye 3D Installation Art Exhibition" 🔹"The True Colors of All Things: Chinese White: Dehua Porcelain Shanghai Art Exhibition" 🔹"Where My Heart Is at Peace: Xia Yang's Artistic Journey and Home" 🔹"The Towering Glory: 30 Years of the Chinese Oil Painting Society Art Exhibition" 🔹"Along the River During the Qingming Festival (Multimedia Edition)" Overall, visiting the "Shanghai Modern" exhibition at the China Art Palace was like enjoying a grand artistic feast, and it gave me a new understanding of Shanghai's past and present.
The China Art Palace is located in the China Pavilion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, now also known as the Shanghai Art Museum. The China Art Palace is huge, with a total construction area of 166,800 square meters and an exhibition area of nearly 70,000 square meters. The museum has a long-term exhibition of the multimedia version of the "Along the River During the Qingming Festival", the treasure of the original China Pavilion, and there are also high-quality exhibitions updated every period of time, which are very worth visiting.
The most eye-catching and film-producing art palace after the Shanghai World Expo: Metro: Exit 3 of "China Art Palace Station" on Line 8, or walk about 600 meters from Exit 1 of "Yaohua Road Station" on Line 7/8. Self-driving: You can park at Guozhan Road or Shangnan Road parking lot (about 30 yuan/time). Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-18:00 (no admission at 17:00), closed on Monday (except statutory holidays). Many exhibitions are short-term, but there are three long-term town exhibitions: Multimedia version of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival": Exhibition Hall 5 on the 49-meter floor, 128-meter long scroll dynamically presents the life of the Song Dynasty market, and tickets must be purchased separately (20 yuan for adults). Permanent exhibitions: 49-meter floor: "The River and Mountains Are So Beautiful" Collection Exhibition, "Yu Yunjie Collection Boutique Exhibition". 0-meter floor: "Shanghai Historical Context Art Creation Project Achievement Exhibition". Practical Tips Free Reservation: No reservation is required for permanent exhibitions, special exhibitions require visiting the official website or purchasing tickets on site. Guided Tour Service: Free guided tours are available daily, and it is recommended to arrive early for the gathering.
It is best to arrange a whole day here, because there are many high-quality free exhibitions, which are absolutely dazzling. I have only shown part of the exhibition of teachers and students of the School of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University for the 70th anniversary of its founding, which has already attracted your attention, right? There is also an exhibition that invites non-professionals to curate the exhibition, which is so creative that it feels more interesting to read their comments than to look at the paintings. I will not introduce the others in detail, and I guarantee that you will feel that the trip is worthwhile!
To summarize, if you are from other places, you can consider coming here to take a look. If you are in Shanghai, you will feel that this museum is nothing special. I vaguely remember that when I came to see this museum in 2014, it took an hour or two to queue up. But now this museum does not require reservations at all, as long as it is open during business hours, and you don’t even need to bring your ID card. At present, the museum is divided into free areas and paid areas. It costs a little extra to enter the paid area directly from the free area, especially the Qingming Shanghe Tu on the top floor. In fact, most people can just go for a free stroll. I will summarize the free area as Shanghai’s anti-Japanese war history, party culture, and some Buddhist elements. I can only say that people who haven’t seen it can see it for fun, and those who have seen it will not have the idea of coming again. Of course, as a free attraction, it is enough to see it for free.
Dear friends, this time I want to share with you the experience of attending the Dunhuang Art Exhibition at the China Art Palace in Shanghai. This exhibition gave us the opportunity to appreciate the replicas of Dunhuang murals and sculptures up close and experience the cultural treasures on the Silk Road. 🏛️【Impression of the China Art Palace】 The Shanghai China Art Palace, located in Pudong New District, Shanghai, is a permanent building of the China National Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. This modern art museum has become one of Shanghai's cultural landmarks with its magnificent scale and unique design. 🖼️【Dunhuang Art Exhibition】 The Dunhuang Art Exhibition was held at the China Art Palace. The exhibition focused on replicas of murals and sculptures from the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, as well as related documentary materials. Each exhibit is the essence of Dunhuang culture, giving us a deeper understanding of Dunhuang art. 🎨【Art Appreciation】 In the exhibition, I was deeply attracted by the colors and lines of the Dunhuang murals. From Buddhist stories to secular life, from myths and legends to natural scenery, each mural shows the unique charm of Dunhuang art. 📸【Photography and Check-in】 Although you can’t take photos in the exhibition hall, the architecture of the China Art Palace is a work of art in itself. I left many wonderful memories in the museum’s lobby and exterior, recording every bit of this cultural journey. 🍵【Local Food】 After visiting the exhibition, I went to taste Shanghai’s special snacks, such as xiaolongbao, shengjianbao, etc., and every bite was an in-depth experience of Shanghai flavor. 📝【Strategy Suggestions】 • Check the opening hours of the China Art Palace and the exhibition period of the Dunhuang Art Exhibition in advance to avoid missing it. • Wear comfortable shoes, because the museum is large and needs to be visited on foot. • Rent an interpreter or download the official APP to make the visit more in-depth. • Pay attention to protecting the exhibits, do not touch the replicas of cultural relics, and abide by the regulations of the museum. • If time permits, you can arrange to stay in the museum for a while, because the exhibition is rich in content and worth savoring.
