Preface: "Tracing Shanghai's Origins"
Over 2,000 years ago, Shanghai became the fiefdom of Lord Chunshen, one of the Four Lords of the Warring States period. Under his leadership, this former East China Sea fishing village gradually developed into a prosperous region of rivers and rice fields. To honor Lord Chunshen's enduring legacy and the great wisdom of Shanghai's early settlers, later generations adopted "Shen" (his title) and "Hu" (a bamboo fishing tool) as alternative names for Shanghai.

First performance: "Jiangnan in Shanghai"
The meandering Huangpu River, flowing for millennia, has nurtured the poetic Jiangnan region of Shanghai. Jiangnan is a painting—misty rain veiling landscapes in ink-wash hues. Jiangnan is a melody—the soft Wu dialect singing tales of life's vicissitudes. A boat, an umbrella, a love story—this is the essence of Shanghai's Jiangnan.

Second performance of "Shanghai Beach"
"Where rivers meet the sea, where east and south convene." In 1843, Shanghai officially opened its port to foreign trade, ushering in an influx of international trading firms. The poetic Jiangnan charm of old Shanghai transformed into the dynamic, cosmopolitan Bund where East met West.

Session 3: "Modern Times"
In 1920s–1930s Shanghai, Eastern and Western cultures converged. Let's experience the modern era of the cosmopolitan Bund amid the neon-lit nightscape of Shanghai.

Session 4: The Age of Awakening
Shanghai is where China's revolution set sail. Young visionaries like Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian, filled with revolutionary ideals, courageously stepped forward one after another, staining this land with their youth and blood. Let us revisit those magnificent and turbulent years.
