Just back from Wangxian Valley in Shangrao, here's some honest feedback and practical advice
Just back from Wangxian Valley in Shangrao, here's some honest feedback and practical advice I'd like to share 📝
✨Is it worth visiting?
Personally, I think it's definitely worth it! But you must choose the right time. The scenery during the day is pretty ordinary, but after the lights are turned on at night, it's truly stunning! It's like stepping into a mystical world. I recommend arriving around 5pm so you can enjoy both the sunset and the breathtaking night view 🌆. The blue hour (half an hour after sunset) offers a mesmerizing blue sky, perfect for taking stunning photos 📸.
🎫Tickets
You can check ticket prices in advance on major travel platforms, as there are sometimes discounts available. After purchasing tickets, you can enter the park directly by swiping your ID card or scanning the QR code, which is very convenient and saves queuing time. Child tickets and senior tickets require secondary verification at the ticket gate.
🚗Transportation
- High-speed Rail: First, arrive at Shangrao Station. From there, you can take the Wangxian Valley direct bus, which takes about 1.5 hours and costs 30 yuan per person. You can also choose a shared car, which costs about 50 yuan per person.
- Self-driving: Navigate directly to the Wangxian Valley Tourist Center. There is a parking lot inside the scenic area, and the parking fee is 10-20 yuan per day.
🍜Food Recommendations
Baiwei Street in the scenic area offers a wide variety of local snacks, such as the chewy lotus root starch balls and the spicy and appetizing Xiaopang Liangpi (cold noodles). There are also must-buy food specialties in Wangxian Valley, such as the unique and sweet-and-sour Yike Shenxian Guo (a type of fruit) and the crispy and fragrant Gegen Su (arrowroot crisp), which are great for both personal consumption and gifts.
🏠Accommodation Recommendations
- Inside the Scenic Area: There are Xian Su (fairy houses) and cliffside guesthouses to choose from. Staying inside the scenic area comes with 2 scenic area tickets and 2 breakfast vouchers for the Baihe Restaurant per room. You can also enjoy free access to Xiaofei Xia Paradise, free shuttle bus service, priority park entry, and unlimited access to the park during your stay. However, the price is relatively high. If your budget allows, it's highly recommended, as it allows you to fully experience the charm of the scenic area and see the sunrise the next morning 🌅.
- Outside the Scenic Area: If you're on a budget, you can choose to stay outside the scenic area, which is much more affordable. Personally, I didn't feel like I missed out after seeing the night view.
📸Photo Spots
- Baige Bridge: Many people take ancient-style photos here, and it's a very popular spot.
- Baihe Cliff: The iconic cliff landscape of Wangxian Valley, legend has it that this is where the White Crane Immortal lived in seclusion. At night, under the illumination of lights, it looks even more mysterious. It's an excellent location for viewing the cliff area and taking photos.
- Lanyue Bridge: Whether it's day or night, the scenery here is unique, and it's also a good place to view the cliff area from afar.
- Scenic Area Exit: You can take photos of the "Z"-shaped cliff landscape, which is very distinctive.
At 17:40, I entered Wangxian Valley, from the setting sun to the myriad lights of homes, stepping into a world of immortals and heroes. The mountains are windy, the cliffs are lit, the warmth of human life, most comforting to the mortal heart.
Overall, it was pretty good, and not too tiring to do. The scenery was even better at night than during the day. There were plenty of food, entertainment, and shows, but the ticket price of 140 yuan was a bit expensive. It would be better to spend two days there. Also, the food was slightly more expensive than outside.
This trip to Wangxian Valley was unforgettable! What was once an abandoned quarry has now been transformed into a secluded paradise where mountains and water meet. As evening falls, the lights illuminate the cliffside guesthouses and eaves, creating a dreamlike atmosphere, and the performances are a visual feast. The traditional lantern cakes and kudzu root juice on the ancient street are authentic and delicious, and you can experience intangible cultural heritage at the handicraft workshops. The only minor drawback is the crowds during holidays; I recommend visiting on a weekday.
The scenic area was transformed from an abandoned granite mine. It opened in October 2020. Some areas are still under expansion. The transportation is very convenient. Come out of Shangrao High-speed Railway Station and walk straight to the East Bus Station opposite to buy a through bus to Wangxian Valley. You can buy it by following Gan Yuexing on your mobile phone. It costs 30 yuan per person. There is a bus at 7:40 and 8:30 in the morning, and then one every half hour until the last bus at 9 pm. The whole journey takes one hour to the visitor center. The ticket is 120. If you want to drift, you can buy a package ticket for 268. The rafting starts at 11 o'clock and ends at 5 pm. After entering, you can see the cliff homestay not far away. You can stay there, but the cost is higher. Then walk further in to Wangxian Town. There will be programs starting at 3 pm. The more famous ones are the Han wedding and the bonfire party at 8 pm. Whether it is weekdays or weekends, the flow of people is very large. There are also various snacks and drinks inside, and the consumption is not high. If you just want to watch the show, you can go in at 3 pm. If you also want to see the registration during the day, you can go in after 12 o'clock. It's good to take pictures if there are not many people. The night view is very beautiful. It is also a popular check-in spot. After going out, the homestay is not far away. There are both north and south. The homestay is responsible for pick-up and drop-off. Some homestays can also share a car to Sanqingshan, Wuyuan and other scenic spots. There are also buses back to Shangrao High-speed Railway Station at the entrance of the scenic spot. The first bus is at 10 o'clock in the morning. It is worth coming here to escape the heat in summer.
