Splendid China Folk Village is not a theme park, but a three-dimensional scroll of Chinese civilization unfolding at the forefront of the reform and opening-up—it was established in 1987. It is the earliest theme park in China combining miniature landscapes with ethnic cultural live scenes, known as "a one-day tour across China." But its greatness goes far beyond "miniature": 82 famous Chinese landmarks are exquisitely crafted at a 1:15 scale, from the Great Wall to the Potala Palace, from the Terracotta Warriors to the Suzhou Gardens. Even more impressive, it brings the living cultures of 56 ethnic groups into the park—reed-pipe music sounds in front of the Miao stilt houses, peacocks spread their tails in the Dai Garden, paper-cutting dances in the Shaanbei cave dwellings, and roasted buns sizzle with oil at the Xinjiang bazaar... This is not a static display but a daily live performance of "Chinese life."

The greatness of Splendid China lies not in its miniatures but in its sincerity—it makes the Great Wall no longer distant, the Tianshan Mountains within reach, and the songs of 56 ethnic groups converge under the same blue sky. When you receive a cup of homemade glutinous rice wine in the Dai village, learn a reed-pipe dance in the Miao village, and listen to a Tibetan girl sing "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" in front of the miniature Potala Palace, at that moment, you touch not only the depth of Chinese culture but also the unbroken warmth and heartbeat of this land.
The scenic area offers a variety of activities, including food, performances, and convenient sightseeing buses. Transportation is also convenient, with the subway right outside. The night view is especially captivating and offers excellent photo opportunities. Highly recommended for visitors to Shenzhen.
Spent about 1 to 2 hours here. Big place. We booked a buggy for an hour (1st hr rmb 180, next hr is rmb 120 etc) to explore. Have performances and have eateries too.
Wow this is an amazing place to visit for sure. It’s so big I couldn’t finish it for the night with my family. Hope the vehicle could have been able to rent longer. The performance is top notch. I’m surprised when I see their performance for sure. It’s extremely worth the visit!
Miniature landscape, a step into history: There are 82 miniature models of famous attractions in the Splendid China Folk Village, including the Great Wall, Dunhuang murals, and the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of the Qin Mausoleum, which make people feel like they are stepping into the long river of history. These attractions are scientifically arranged according to the location of China's territory, and tourists seem to be walking on a huge map of China when visiting.
Shenzhen Splendid China Folk Culture Village is also one of the famous tourist attractions in Shenzhen. As a tourist project of Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town, it is very close to Window of the World and Happy Valley. It is mainly divided into two parts. One is Splendid China. Similar to Window of the World, it is a concentrated exhibition of miniature landscapes of famous attractions across China, such as the Great Wall, Mount Tai, Mount Huang, Terracotta Warriors, Longmen Grottoes, Kunming Stone Forest, etc. The other is the Folk Culture Village, which reproduces the folk customs and characteristics of various ethnic minority villages in China in real proportion. During the day, Splendid China is suitable for sightseeing and taking pictures, and the ethnic minority cultural performances in the Folk Culture Village are distinctive and suitable for viewing and appreciation. There are also three large-scale performances here, which I personally feel are better than those in Window of the World. The first one is "Legend of the Desert" at 2 pm, which is very imposing and reproduces the magnificence of the golden swords and iron horses; the second one is the dance performance "New Oriental Neon Clothes" at the Impression China Theater at 5 pm, which is very colorful and amazing; the third one is the large-scale evening show "Dragon and Phoenix Dance China" at Phoenix Square at 7 pm, which is known as "a party that cannot be missed when coming to Shenzhen". These three large-scale performances can be regarded as the essence of the Splendid China Folk Culture Village. They are worth the price and should not be missed! I went here to catch the Halloween theme night show. It is also possible to challenge your courage by going through various theme haunted houses.
The scenery is beautiful and the air is fresh. I feel happy when I come here. The old captain's warm hospitality and teaching us folk customs have made me understand a lot. I like it very much and will come again next time.
