First Botanical Gardens at Armenian Street
The First Botanic Garden in Singapore was started in 1822 by Raffles. It was a Botanical and Experimental Garden to cultivate economic crops, such as nutmeg and clove, and other experimental crops such as coffee, tea, and Pernambuco cotton.
After Raffles left Singapore, the garden was left languishing, and subsequently closed in 1829. Largely due to high maintenance fee of $60 which was high in the olden days. For almost 30 years there was no Botanic Garden in Singapore until the present one was begun in 1859 in Napier Road.
In today’s time, where the first botanical garden is being recreated. The garden is restored with species introduced to Singapore in the early 19th century. They are in four different themes, the economic spices, ornamental plants, medicinal plants and plants. These are native to the region in the 1800s.
As someone who visits the civic district often, I’m so delighted to see the garden bringing so much cheer to the area.
Please remember to not pluck the flowers and just admire them!

The oldest church in Singapore, the pure white exterior wall, the towering spire, the protruding porch on all sides, simple and solemn, there are many sculptures of different shapes placed outside, the interior of the church still retains the appearance of the construction of the year, the beautiful murals of the dome ceiling, usually no one, The surrounding environment is quiet, the trees are lush, and the cemetery is behind. It is said that it was the family cemetery that originally funded the construction of the church. Ms. Zhuojin is buried here.
