The Five-Color Pond is really beautiful, but the journey is quite exhausting. I recommend making a good plan before coming to Huanglong, or you might easily miss the most stunning sights! ❶ Depart from Huanglong Jiuzhai Station, where there are many carpool options right outside the station. Usually, it costs 30 RMB per person to get to Huanglong. ❷ Huanglong is at a high altitude, so to save energy, be sure to buy a ticket for the uphill cable car. After getting off the cable car, you still need to walk several kilometers to reach the Five-Color Pond. It’s recommended to buy a sightseeing bus ticket, which costs 15 RMB one way and 20 RMB round trip. ❸ At this season, many parts of the Five-Color Pond are frozen, and the first half of the route is snowy scenery. The most beautiful view is at the highest point. When you reach the temple halfway up the mountain, don’t give up—keep climbing. Walk another 10 minutes, and you’ll almost see a view like Milk Lake‼️ Then walk around the plank road loop to fully enjoy the most beautiful scenery of the Five-Color Pond. ❹ There are many stairs for hiking inside the scenic area.
