Queen Mother Pond

The Queen Mother Pond is located at the east end of Huanshan Road, under Hushan Mountain and south of Longshan Reservoir. It was called Qunyu Temple in ancient times and also known as Yaochi. Cao Zhi of Wei in the Three Kingdoms period wrote the poem "Passing the Queen Mother's House in the east, overlooking the Five Mountains", and Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty also chanted "Drinking from the Queen Mother Pond in the morning and throwing himself into the Heavenly Gate at night", which shows that the temple has a long history.

The Queen Mother Pond is built by the river, with halls, pavilions and pavilions scattered on a three-story platform, with red walls and black tiles hidden among the green pines and cypresses. It is divided into two courtyards, the front courtyard has the Queen Mother Spring, the spring water is clear and sweet, it was dug by Mr. Feng Yuxiang in 1932 to solve the drinking water problem of Taicheng residents; the back courtyard is the Seven True Hall, the clay sculptures in the hall are lifelike with different expressions. To the east is the waterfall viewing pavilion, and to the west is the Laojun Hall, which displays the "Mandarin Duck Stele" from the Tang Dynasty. Although the Queen Mother Pond is not large in scale, it has a long history and rich culture. It is a must-visit place for those who like and study ancient Chinese culture.
