Show More ReviewsConfucius' Ascending Place is located in the north of Tianmen Gate of Mount Tai. It is a four-pillar, three-door stone archway with ancient vines, elegant and dignified. It was built in the 39th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1560). There are two steles on both sides of the archway. The east one is the "Climbing High Must Be Self-guided" stele inscribed by Zhai Tao, the Tongzhi of Jinan Prefecture during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, and the west one is the "First Mountain" stele inscribed by Li Fuchu, the governor of Shandong Province. On the north side is the "Heavenly Steps" archway with two pillars and a single door. The five characters "Confucius' Ascending Place" are inscribed on the plaque of Confucius' Ascending Place, and the couplet on the pillar reads: "The Su Wang is unique and has been passed down through the ages, and the holy lord is far away to celebrate for ten thousand years."
