Additional Information

Located in central Tokyo’s Chiyoda ward, Tokyo Station is the city’s main intercity rail terminal. Japan’s high-speed rail service, the Shinkansen, serves Tokyo Station, as do many regional commuter links and the Tokyo Metro. The main facade on the station’s western side is brick-built and dates to when Tokyo Station first opened in 1914. The entire station complex is laced with a network of underground passages that link it to the surrounding commercial buildings and shopping centers. The broad approach leading to the western entrance is quite attractive and provides an excellent spot for taking pictures.
