In the Yumeukibashi Hiroba in Nishizume, Ujibashi Bridge, there are three monuments: "Yumeukibashi no Kosaku", "Murasaki Shikibu Statue" and this "Emperor Meiji's Residence Monument". In 1897, Emperor Meiji was staying at Shunzo Manbiro Ueda's house in Uji on the way from Kyoto to Nara, but I think he stopped by Uji Bridge and could see it.
There is "Yumeukibashi Hiroba" in Nishizume, Ujibashi, and the stone monument is built on the right side of the Murasaki Shikibu statue. On February 7, 1877 (Meiji 10), Emperor Meiji stayed at Shunzo Ueda's Manbiro Ueda house on the way from Kyoto to Nara.
It was like a rock installed at the wall of Ujibashi. The characters carved on the surface became thinner and it seemed that it could hardly be read from a distance. It can be said that it is one of the monuments derived from the visit to Emperor Meiji standing in various places.
