#springflower Inside the Great Mosque of Xi’an, the praying spaces are arranged with respect to traditional practice. The main prayer hall is reserved for male worshippers, following the customs of the local Muslim community. There is also a separate praying area for women, providing a quiet and private space for female visitors who come to pray. Although smaller, it maintains the same peaceful atmosphere and traditional design found throughout the mosque. These separate rooms reflect the mosque’s long‑standing cultural and religious traditions, while still welcoming visitors from all backgrounds who wish to understand its history and spiritual significance.

Hey Everyone, I’m Z and I travel around the world as a muslim solo traveller. This trip I am travelling from Singapore to Mongolia by Land and last week I was in Xi’An. Xi’an is a muslim friendly city and there are lots of halal (清真) options in the city. I highly advise you to stay in the muslim area near the mosque. What I did in Xi’An: 1. Traverse the Xi’an city walk and walk around it (you can rent a bicycle for it too) 2. Catch the beautiful bell and clock tower when the skies are dark! 3. Teracotta Army Museum (must go when you are in Xi’An) 4. Xi’An Great Mosque (very beautiful chinese and arabic architecture, do remember to dress modestly) 5. Xi’An Muslim Street (Lots and Lots of different halal food to try from) Food to try in Xi’an: 1. Biang Biang Mian 2. Rou Jia Mo (Half-cooked beef in a pita bread) 3. Beef or Lamb Skewers! Brick carving is a type of decorative art that uses bricks as the carving medium. It originated by imitating stone carving but is more economical and labor-saving than stone carving, and thus more widely adopted. Brick carvings are often used on gate towers, gable walls, screen walls, and other places. Carving techniques include incised carving, intaglio, bas-relief, openwork, round carving, multi-layered carving, and more. Brick carving possesses both the sturdy texture of stone carving and the delicate smoothness of wood carving, presenting a style that is both strong and gentle, yet simple and elegant. Brick carvings most commonly use specially fired blue bricks, which are made from extremely fine-grained clay or silt deposited at the bottom of rivers. Sometimes, special firing techniques are also employed to ensure the finished product has a uniform texture, moderate hardness, and no pores. For example, the bricks used for Huizhou brick carvings only utilize the highest quality clay from the north bank of the Xin'an River. The formed bricks must also be polished before they can be used. Brick carvings are mostly used as architectural components or decorations for gates, screen walls, and walls. Due to the strict quality requirements in the selection, molding, and firing processes of blue bricks, they are solid and delicate, making them suitable for carving. Artistically, brick carvings can be appreciated from both near and far, offering a complete visual effect. I never expected Xi’an to be so clean & I have to say this, beautiful.. maybe I’m just biased after hearing about China street conditions.. but was surprised to see how clean the streets & the attractions were.. even the toilets were clean (even though they have more squatting pan than sitting) Lol 🤣 Other than that, i find the Xian people were very nice to us Muslim ladies.. They find it amusing that we can speak a little broken Mandarin. It does help to get around.. Haha! Would i returned back to Xian? Yes, most definitely! #chinatravel #xian

Walking from the Drum Tower to Huimin Street, I accidentally discovered a mosque located inside an alley. Driven by curiosity, I headed towards the mosque. Upon arrival, I saw a stone tablet recording that the Great Mosque was established in the first year of the Tang Tianbao era (742 AD), with a history of over 1,200 years. This is a rare Chinese garden-style mosque in the world. The exterior architecture is in traditional Chinese palace style, but the interior decoration and layout strictly follow Islamic principles. The mosque houses important cultural relics, including a Qing Dynasty handwritten Quran, a map of Mecca, and calligraphy stone inscriptions by famous artists such as Mi Fu from the Song Dynasty and Dong Qichang from the Ming Dynasty, all priceless. This place is worth a visit 👍🏻 The off-season ticket price is 15 yuan, truly worth the price 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The Huajue Lane Great Mosque, hidden deep within Huajue Lane in Xi'an, is not far from the busy streets, but finding it requires a bit of effort. Located in Huajue Lane, Beiyuanmen Hui Street, commonly known as the Great Mosque or East Great Mosque, it is the largest Islamic mosque in Xi'an. Huajue Lane was a settlement area for Hui ancestors, with the name implying enlightenment and realization. Its history dates back to the Tang Dynasty. The Hui people are characterized by being widely dispersed with small concentrated communities. Their residential areas are centered around mosques, and Xi'an has a Muslim architectural complex consisting of seven mosques and thirteen blocks. In the early 7th century, Islam was introduced to China via the Silk Road. Throughout the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, Islam spread widely in China, and mosques built in various dynasties have been preserved almost everywhere. The Huajue Lane Mosque is one of the famous Islamic mosques. However, one does not see the typical sapphire blue domes and towers of Arab mosques here. Instead, traditional Chinese wooden pavilion-style architecture catches the eye, making it stand out with its unique style among Chinese mosques. Upon entering, the details and decorations blend Islamic architectural art. Integrating traditional Chinese architecture and Islamic culture, it is one of the most distinctive, best-preserved, and typical Chinese-style mosques in our country, and it is also the only garden-style mosque in China.
