Must-See Guide to York, UK! Just Copy It!
⛪️|Church Bells and All Beings
Travel📒:
1️⃣ It takes about 50 minutes to get there by train from Sheffield.
2️⃣ Try to avoid Monday and Tuesday, as many attractions are closed.
Attractions⛰️:
1️⃣ York Museum Gardens: Perfect for a walk🚶♀️, a great place to rest, and many elderly people read books and newspapers on the seats.
2️⃣ York Minster⛪️: One of the must-see attractions, full of history, as famous as Westminster Abbey in London, with towering Gothic twin towers that look magical from afar, and the side is great for photos!
3️⃣ The Shambles: The best-preserved medieval street in Europe and the location of Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series. There are many small shops to check in, and you can also buy York imps on the Shambles (small ones for £9, large ones for £17), one of the British souvenirs.
4️⃣ Clifford's Tower: On top of a hill, one of the few remaining relics of York Castle🏰.
5️⃣ York City Wall: You can see it on the way from the station to the church. It is the most complete and longest wall in England.
Food🍛:
1️⃣ The Potions Cauldron Butterbeer🍻: A little sweet, not very strong, tastes good at first, but a little greasy after drinking too much.
2️⃣ Shambles Kitchen: Fireworks sandwich🥪 is very famous.
3️⃣ Alys Bakery: Located northwest of York Minster⛪️, a must for Basque lovers!
Overall Impression📝:
1️⃣ York is one of my favorite cities in the UK, the whole city is very beautiful🤩, and the atmosphere is very strong.
2️⃣ There are not too many attractions, and you can finish them in one day.
3️⃣ You don't have to check in on purpose, just walking around is very comfortable.
My first time visiting this tower ,all the staff was extremely friendly and helpful .We really enjoyed visiting this beautiful piece of history and we adore york. Was so happy to know it is english heritage so everytime we go somewhere we try and make use out of our membership. Was a wonderful structure been made for the stairs nice and strong. We enjoyed the roof top being able to have a clear 360 view was magnificent well worth all the climbing up both stairs .
it is not just a castle but there must be a lot of histories behind this historical thing! very beautiful and very bigger than you thought. visiting york without coming to see this might be a bad idea
1. The appearance is good, the interior is relatively small, the design of the stairs to the top is very creative, you can overlook the whole city! 2. Figure 1 is the price list; Trip.com The resources are a bit exaggerated. I set a big one and a small two tickets for 316, and the scene is 21 pounds less than 200 RMB. You can make money but it feels too cruel. Everyone can buy it on the spot, which is very convenient.
Built by William the Conqueror to suppress the rebellious North, Clifford’s Tower has served as a royal mint, a medieval fortress and a civil war garrison. In 1190, one of the worst anti-Jewish pogroms of the Middle Ages took place on the site of the tower, when York’s Jewish community was trapped there by a mob, with many Jews choosing to commit suicide rather than be murdered. Today, a new roof terrace offers unparalleled views of York’s historic skyline, its medieval buildings and famous cathedral. Inside, new walkways and staircases open up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for centuries, and immersive soundscapes and stories bring the tower’s turbulent history to life like never before.
Clifford's Tower was originally built by William the Conqueror as a wooden fortress. It is part of York Castle and stands on a hill at the confluence of the Ouse and Forth rivers in the southeast of the old city. At that time, there was a moat around the tower and York Castle. The tower was connected to the castle by a drawbridge, and the castle was connected to the outside by a stone bridge.
