York Meat Shop is a historic street, one of the best preserved medieval streets not only in Britain but also in Europe. Its wooden structures, goose soft stone lanes, and is known as a Harry Potter filming site. Now the streets are both exquisite personalized shops, with a strong literary atmosphere, attracting countless tourists to visit.
When I squeezed into the Butcher Street on the uneven stone slabs, the crooked wooden houses on both sides almost pressed down on my shoulders - the rusty meat hooks under the eaves still hung the smell of the Middle Ages, and the windows were filled with chocolate frogs and magic wands. The most crazy one was the little ghost shop: I waited in a long line for three hours under the scorching sun, holding the palm-sized pottery dolls in my sweaty hands, with rough glaze wrapped around a hideous smile. When I left the shop, it was already dusk, and I suddenly felt the eye sockets of the little ghost in my hand reflecting light in the dark.
York, a famous British historical and cultural city, in addition to famous attractions such as Gothic York Cathedral, there are also 14th-century butcher streets. Harry Potter is here. Taste the street red alcohol-free butter beer, the taste is amazing.
Potterheads this is the place to be. Feel like walking through Diagon Alley or just purchasing a wand at the Store that Must Not be Named. Be sure to go there early in the morning to beat the crowd and avoid weekends.
This well-preserved medieval street was given new meaning by the Harry Potter movies. The "Diagon Alley" in the movie was filmed here. The cobblestones were moistened by the light rain, and the small shops that had not yet closed emitted sporadic dim lights. The only sound in the quiet street was the footsteps of our group.
As the prototype of Diagon Alley, it is set as a place to buy magic supplies in the film. When Harry first came here, Hagrid knocked on the bricks of the bar and suddenly understood. Although it is now famous as Diagon Alley, it used to be a street for selling livestock and meat, also known as Butcher Street. It is worth a visit.
