Cishi Tower

There is a pagoda named Ci's Pagoda on the southwest side of Dongting Lake. The pagoda is 39 meters high. It is a masonry structure with seven octagonal floors. The base of the tower is made of granite, and the body of the tower is made of blue bricks, which is very rich in the artistic style of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The tower starts from the second floor, and there are small Buddha niches around each floor, which originally contained Buddha statues. There is a small bell hanging on the corner of the eaves, and when the wind blows, you will hear the tinkling sound of the bell. The exterior of this tower is exquisite, but it is a pity that the interior is solid, otherwise it is also a good place to overlook the beauty of Dongting. Legend has it that in ancient times, there were water monsters in Dongting Lake, who often came out to harm the people, and the people were miserable. So everyone raised funds and prepared to build a pagoda to suppress the demon. Near the place where the tower was repaired, there lived a family. She heard that she was going to build a tower to ward off demons, donated all the money she had saved over the years, and kept burning tea and water for the people who built the tower, running back and forth day and night. Unfortunately, the tower was not completed, and she passed away. In order to commemorate her, the pagoda was named Ci's Pagoda, and a Ci's Temple was built beside the pagoda.
