My friend and I planned our Yunnan trip through trip.com and booked a Jade Dragon Mountain tour for 2 (self-guided). The whole package included: pick-up/drop-off transport, sightseeing train, cable car tickets to glacier park and spruce meadow, entrance passes and the ticket to Impression Lijiang all bundled up. After booking the package, a chat group will be set up by the tour guide to allow timely updates on the ticket timings and any changes to be communicated. (The driver will also be added to the chat one or two days prior.) You will then receive QR codes and the itinerary according to the timings of the cable cars and show when the tickets are ready (the guides will procure the tickets for you). We were being picked up at 7am from our hotel and dropped off at the sight seeing train station whereby we will take a 30 minutes train to jade dragon mountain - something which I initially didn’t think we needed but turned out to be one of the best decisions ever as we saw a massive traffic jam outside the jade dragon mountain entrance gantry. During the train ride, you will be able to see the full view of jade dragon mountain and if you were to take the earliest train, you might even be able to see 日照金山. The train will stop you at the visitor centre - where the entrance to the glacier park cable car is just beside it. A summary of the spots that we visited in the jade dragon mountain compound: 1. Glacier park (the reason you go to Jade Dragon Mountain) 冰川公园 Try to go up the glacier park early as normally the weather deteriorates by afternoon according the guides. We were lucky enough not to get high altitude sickness but we saw a few people faint or looked really unwell. Remember to bring your oxygen bottles, chocolate bar, water and winter jacket. 2. Spruce Meadow 云杉坪 A meadow with the mountain peaks as its backdrop. You will be able to see some sheep/goats/horses/cows etc. You can choose to take the eco car or simply take a short stroll to the meadow from the cable car station. I don’t think it’s necessary to walk the whole circumference of the meadow if you don’t have enough time. 3. Impression Lijiang 印象丽江 So, I’d seen snippets of the show on Insta before, but nothing could have prepped me for how next-level it was in person. With the epic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain towering behind the open-air stage, every moment felt surreal. The precision of the performers, the theme song “回家" (“Homecoming”) and that whole aesthetic just gives goosebumps. 4. Blue moon valley 蓝月谷 Beautiful lake with vibrant blue green hues. Will be able to pay to take photo with the Yak (牦牛) there. There are a few spots to see the valley - choose wisely as it is a big area. ‼️‼️IMPORTANT: ‼️‼️ · There are shuttle buses in the attraction. HOWEVER, some of them doesn’t have proper signage as to where the bus is going and the bus driver didn’t really want to answer when we asked him - in proper mandarin (maybe we were unlucky) so we ended up just taking the bus blindly. It goes in a loop so dont worry! You will eventually get there 😂 · They aren’t too strict about the timings for the cable cars and show (except for the glacier cable car but I am sure the staff at the ticket check area can help you if you ask politely.) so in the event that you wish to go for an earlier slot, you can always ask the staff there - no guarantees but we managed to go on an earlier spruce cable car and earlier sightseeing train out of jade dragon mountain. There are many guides on how to buy the tickets on the mini app on wechat but unless you have a China phone number, I strongly suggest to forget it and save yourself from all the stress and research and all and just buy the tour from trip.com. · *****‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY (x1000) IMPORTANT‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️****** One passport can only buy 1 ticket. If you didn’t buy the bundle package self guided tour on trip.com but bought “ala carte” tickets on trip.com instead, you can only buy ONE TICKET - example: if you bought a ticket for spruce meadow cable car, YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO BUY THE TICKET FOR GLACIER CABLE CAR UNLESS ITS BUNDLED TOGETHER. AND TICKETS ARE NON REFUNDABLE. - and why do I know that?
