We came for brunch on a glorious autumn day. I was disappointed the bacon was not free farmed so opted for scrambled eggs instead. They were a bit dry for my taste and quite a strong flavour of garlic and although I love garlic it&#39;s not a flavour I would normally associate with eggs. The coffee was great as was the toast and my husband enjoyed his mushrooms. Nice setting, dog friendly and friendly staff created a pleasant experience.

For basic KIwi food, or a quick bite, this could be a place to stop. I have no regrets. I wasn&#39;t in a hurry and a lot of the town is old and just starting to come back to life. Service was adequate and the pies were fresh and full of meat, unlike some meat pies which are filled with a lot of gravy and you&#39;re looking for a morsel of actual meat! Since it was raining they were very accomodating with our wet jackets and &quot;brellies&quot; umbrellas, and it was clean and proper, like all kiwi places tend to be!

I like the yesteryear train station setting. The staff are very pleasant and the food is good. Plenty of parking outside and has great outdoor space.

Definitely a &quot;random&quot; choice for us as we continue our exploration north of Auckland, definitely a &quot;character&quot; environment being in the one time railway station and the food was excellent, my wife said the Chicken &amp; Brie Panini was among the best she has ever had! The &quot;open&quot; pasttie was also excellent and accompanied by a nice salad. Milkshakes were a little on the small side especially for the price but we would definitely stop in again on our way to or from the north.
