About Jim Thompson House

The Jim Thompson House is a cluster of buildings covered in greenery and the former home of Jim Thompson, an American silk entrepreneur and art collector. The entire building comprises a classic Thai-style garden. Thompson collected a variety of abandoned Thai houses and structures in central Thailand and reassembled them in 1959. Comprising six buildings, the exterior is centered around a red color, with the structure suspended over a small canal. There is a yard in the middle filled with flowers and plants—a beautiful sight to behold.

I went there on December 25, 2017. Perhaps most Chinese tourists are impressed by the Grand Palace, Jade Buddha Temple, King Zheng Temple, Siam Square and Kaoshan Road. In fact, "Kim Thompson House" is also a scenic spot full of Thai local characteristics. We strongly recommend that you visit it. Jim Thompson from the United States is a very famous international friend in the modern history of Thailand. He promoted traditional Thai silk to the international market and became a well-known Thai handicraft product overseas. Jim Thompson brand has also become a synonym for high-quality Thai silk. Naturally, "Gold Thompson House" is a Thai Silk Museum, where a panoramic display of the traditional Thai silk handicraft industry, as well as many beautiful Thai silk fabrics. In addition to various exhibits, the museum also arranged for a man, a woman and two staff members to demonstrate silk reeling scene at the entrance. The female staff member is also a dancer, performing traditional Thai dances at half-time, graceful dance posture, is a small pleasant performance. The Museum is actually King Thompson's former residence in Bangkok, where the original home environment of Mr. King's life is basically preserved. Various exhibitions allow visitors to intuitively understand his legendary life. The former residence itself is also an exhibition of traditional Thai architecture, "Mr. King" collected several traditional Thai buildings "high-feet houses" from the periphery of the old Thai capital city, and joined them into the present villa in Bangkok. Mr. King only added interior details to meet the needs of modern life, such as lighting, to preserve the tradition of Thai houses as much as possible, so the villa looks very traditional, very Thai. The Museum area is divided into square, restaurant and Exhibition hall. Squares and restaurants are open to the public free of charge. Entry to the exhibition hall requires tickets (ordinary adult ticket 150 baht, less than 22-year-old tourist ticket 100 baht), and must be guided by a guide to visit the designated route. There are guides in Thai, English, Chinese and Japanese. They can give visitors a detailed account of Mr. Kim's life and various displays of the former residence. I naturally follow the Chinese guide, who studies Chinese at Beijing University. His spoken Chinese is very fluent, and the arrangement of the line is very reasonable, so that tourists can see all the areas in the villa at a glance. The transportation to the museum is convenient. Visitors can take the BTS and get off at the National Stadium on Silom Line or Ratchathewi on Sukhumvit Line, and walk about 300 meters and 650 meters respectively.

150B is the only place in Bangkok to leave a good impression. It has a high level of management and precision. It's international standard. It's worth visiting if you have time. It's interesting. It's also a good brand. It's the best combination of international model and local characteristics. It's suitable for both self-use and delivery. It's several hundred times better than a naive, shallow silk Bangkok bag.

This is an American home in Thailand. Especially because there are many rare treasures in this home. They are all antiques. They are all collected by the owners from all over the world. There are many treasures from China, from Cambodia, Myanmar, France, Italy and other countries. The ticket is 150 baht. There are guides in English and Chinese. Of course, they are Thai. Putonghua and English are not very standard. There are no photographs or bags in the house, and slippers are needed. I was deeply impressed by a acacia tree in the yard.

Small and exquisite exhibition hall, with theme explanations, both in English and Chinese, is worth seeing, and the exhibits inside are genuine. This is not a country. It belongs to a foundation. It claims that tickets are charitable fees.

It's good that there aren't so many people. It's also worth going to the National Sports Administration station, which is Mbk, and walking along the river for about five minutes to visit with the Bangkok Art Center.

Jim Thompson is a personal name. He was an American architect. The whole building is a typical Thai garden. It was built in 1959. It consists of seven buildings and hangs over a small canal. It is now the most famous Thai silk store in Thailand. It is also a Thai Silk Museum, collecting and exhibiting all kinds of high-end Thai silk. The museum exhibits Mr. Thompson's collections of his life, including works of art from various parts of Asia.

Jim Thompson's home is the old residence of American silk tycoon Thompson in Bangkok. He is also the textile king of Thailand. The whole former residence is covered with vegetation and many beautiful flowers and plants. The red color is very solemn.

This is one of the few well-preserved teak buildings in Bangkok, where Jim Thompson collects antiques from China, Myanmar and other places. The small museum is not big. There are guides in various languages. An hour's tour is enough. There are restaurants in the scenic area, which is not expensive.

The tickets below 22 are 100B and above 150B, but when you go there, you will find the price quite worthwhile. First, the scenery is really good, although silk is not new to the Chinese people, and second, as a place where Chinese people don't go much, you may only have one person following the Chinese interpreter, while there are more than a dozen other English and French interpreters behind you.
