[Swiss Tour] Basel is located in the northwest corner of Switzerland. Basel is on the upper reaches of the Rhine. It is surrounded by Germany and France and becomes the junction of the three countries. To the north is the Black Forest, and to the west is the Alsace region. As a cultural intersection, it has been a city of culture and art since the Middle Ages.
Basel City Hall is a representative building located on the city's market square, a red sandstone building with a unique tower. It has been more than 500 years since.
Address: Marktpl. 9
Basel is the last stop of our trip to Switzerland. It is the third largest city in Switzerland. A Rhine River passes through the city and divides Basel into two. There are also world-famous festivals and exhibitions, and there are colorful colors in the streets of the old town. In Basel, this day, the public is not beautiful, it has been raining, adding a hint of gloom, but making the city more temperament.
But the focus of this set of photos is that CC finally wears pants again! Haha!
The famous Swiss city of Basel is located at the junction of the three countries of Defari. It is a good preserve of modern construction and old district architecture. It has a profound cultural heritage and historical temperament. The people of Basel are keen on pursuing culture and art. Therefore, the preservation of historical buildings is complete. Art galleries and museums are mostly located in ancient buildings.
Basel maximizes the traces of history and restores their original appearance as much as possible. Basels well-preserved old neighbourhood reveals a profound cultural atmosphere and respect for history. For the war-torn Europe, such a complete building is now unique. All the streets describe the customs and history here. A scene of European oil painting is unfolding in front of you, even if you dont go to museums and art galleries. You can also feel the art in every street.
The Basel Cathedral in the old town is a Catholic church with red sandstone buildings, which is rare in European churches. The architecture of the church is a mix of Gothic and Romanesque. The
church spire towers towering into the sky. The cathedral is home to the supreme ruler who ruled the city for centuries. They are both spiritual leaders and secular rulers. The main entrance of the cathedral is Gothic with fine carvings. There is a unique timepiece on the side, which makes the time, every minute and every second, blend into this artistic atmosphere.

The city of Basel is actually divided by the Rhine River. The left bank is called Grand Basel, which is an economic commercial and leisure shopping center. The right bank is called Little Basel. It is mainly a flower shop, a studio, a craft workshop, and a fine wood. A caf serving cheese snacks and drinks.
Basel's Old Town is a striking medieval building that spreads over the hilly embankments. At the same time, he is also a progressive modern city with more than 40 art and culture museums and a history of Basel. The long streets add a modern touch.
Weird all kinds of art graffiti, there are very few pedestrians on the road, maybe it is the working time at this time, and we are also in the relatively remote industrial park. But looking at these young performance art graffiti along the way, you can feel the culture of the younger generation of Basel.
After the riverside passes through three bridges, the last one is an old bridge - Selzhong Bridge, which is also the history of the "unpleasant" of Basel and Little Basel. Going to the old town of Basel, behind the old bridge with the flag waving, I have seen the charming buildings of the old city of Basel.
The old bridge is hung with the flags of various countries. It can be seen that Basel is a very liberal and vibrant city. Basel is the home of tennis superstar Federer, who was born and raised here. In his words, it is "one of the most beautiful cities in the world". Everyone's hometown is beautiful, but Basel does have something to stop.
Basel is the place to live.
Basel at the junction of the three countries of Farrell has a "Three Kingdoms Junction Monument" - this place is quite difficult to find, you must first pass through an inaccessible industrial area, and then take a little while to see this rocket. A monument on the banks of the Rhine with the national flags of Switzerland, France and Germany.
Basel is indeed a very "international" city. Large companies such as Novartis and Roche and countless small and medium-sized enterprises are located here. There are countless "international residents" in the city. Going forward from the "Three Kingdoms Junction Monument" for a little while is the territory of Germany. After turning over the bridge and crossing the Rhine, it will be in France. Ten minutes through the Three Kingdoms, it is as simple as walking in the same city.
wants to come to Switzerland with high prices, and the proximity of France and Germany is much more affordable, so I walked a few minutes from the monument and saw a mighty when I walked over a small bridge to Germany. Shopping army, and some even dragged the box... Their goal is a German mall with a bridge at the border. In the mall, people can be said to be crowded, people are crowded, the price of goods in supermarkets is indeed much cheaper than in Switzerland, and tax rebates are also available! Customs and shopping malls are almost a step away, and the tax rebate team is also discharged to the oldest, all of them are carrying big bags and eyebrows and smiling... It seems that people all over the world like to be cheap, that is, in wealthy Switzerland, no exception.
Hotel Marthof Basel Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The best hotel to stay in Basel!
I visited Hotel Märthof Basel during February 2023 together with my sister, and I can say for sure that we will definitely come back!
It’s a relatively new high-end hotel in Basel, a perfect choice for your accommodation. I was first of all impressed by the service, as the staff were always kind, smiling and willing to help.
Next is the interior design! The common areas were covered in black and gold colours and relaxed atmosphere.
We stayed at the Marktplatz Suite which was huge with a really comfortable bed and a super aesthetic bathtub. The whole suite was beautifully decorated and offered an amazing view to the Marktplatz square.
The breakfast included a great selection of everything we could ask for and the quality was excellent.
Finally the views to the city from the rooftop are not to be missed!
I totally recommend this hotel for your stay in Basel!

Basel Town Hall Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A small city with, but rich in history
I had the pleasure of being in Basel, Switzerland a couple of months back, and the city is an outdoor Museum, to say the least.
The mix and prevalence of Roman, Italian, French, and German influences are present in every building and monument, yet everything feels in place and works in synchronization to create something that is uniquely Swiss and Basel.
When visiting, please be aware that the majority of the restaurants and public facilities are usually closed on Sundays, and even finding pharmacies and grocery stores can be a challenge, but in a pinch, the train station should have somethings open.

A modern city with historical monuments
Basel is on the beautiful Rhine river. It’s a mix of modern city and rich of cultural heritage. The beautiful town hall which is still in use today is opened for public entry. Once you entered the main gate, you’ll be surprised by the decoration outside the wall.
There’re also many world class museums here. Every year, there’re museum nights, where the admission is free and the museums are opened overnight!
The transport is very convenient and efficient too!
