Bath's famous Roman Baths are located in the city center, directly opposite Bath Cathedral. The bathing area is divided into upper and lower floors. The lower level bath is connected to the underground hot springs. The pool water is clear, with warm spring water still flowing out, and it has been maintained in this state for more than 10,000 years. The upper and lower floors of the bath are supported by 12 pillars, each of which has different statues of Roman gods, because the Romans believed that the sacred waters of the hot springs originated from the gods' protection.
