Nanhu Island

To visit the Nanhu Island of the Summer Palace, you can walk through the 17-hole bridge or take a boat. On this round island with a lot of public leanings, there are many landscapes such as the Guangrun Lingyu Temple, Dragon King Temple, and Hanxutang. Guangrun Lingyuyu, located in the southeast of Nanhu Island, is the most important building on the island. Founded in Qianlong, it was rebuilt on the former site of the Dragon Shrine on the east bank of the West Lake in the Ming Dynasty, and was named "Guangrun" after it was built. After the completion of the construction, the original rain-seeking sacrifice held in Heilongtan every summer was moved here. On April 28, 1795, Qianlong Emperor visited the Dragon King Temple to pray for rain. It rained heavily that night. On this day, Qianlong Emperor gave the name of the spirit.
