The weekend brunch scene around Paul-Lincke-Ufer is pretty competitive, so when you wander in at 11.30 on Sunday morning and the place is completely empty, you wonder why. The lady behind the bar was almost apologetic and I felt rather sorry for her, but I must admit that we were underwhelmed by the breakfast buffet which had all the standard fare as well as omelette/eggs, sausages/bacon etc, but all of it a bit tired and lacklustre. The bread rolls were dry, but we asked for and got fresh ones (albeit only the white, fairly tasteless ones were on offer). Despite the friendly (if embarrassed) service, we are unlikely to return for lunch. Maybe the food in the evening is better, and the beer garden is probably worth a try.
