We have been often, being locals. MOB has amazing staff who come up with the best exhibitions. Quite inspiring, and good for locals and visitors. Highly recommend it. If you have time visit the clock tower!
Very nice small museum with great exhibits about life at sea. A few real boats, you can climb in, walk around, the highlight is the Diamantina frigate. I am not very interested in shipping things, but I am still very satisfied with the afternoon visit. This is the benefit of on-site visits.
The price is not high. Although the staff are very enthusiastic, the prices of exhibits and tickets in the museum are a bit different. Not suitable for young children, teenagers may be ok. If you like ships, you can come and see it. It’s not recommended for those who simply travel.
History on The South Bank BrisbaneOur first stop on our sightseeing tour of Brisbane. My husband loves boats and history. Arrived early this was good as no air con in the ship you go in.This is a small boat yard museum at the end of the South Bank, the main destroyer is laid out easily to walk through with plenty to look at and read about from its era, giving a great insight to how life was for those on board back many years ago.She was in a dry dock to give you a proper look at her overall size. After this we’re some smaller craft an engine room and various guns etc from the war.We spent a couple of hours here and would highly recommend to any history buffs or ship lovers. They also had on the walls many of our “sayings” then a full explanation of where they originated from.
The Queensland Maritime Museum is a well-known comprehensive museum in Brisbane. Children will love it very much. The tickets are very worthwhile. We took the children to see Diamantina. We found it very interesting, but for different reasons.
A couple of hours well spent and my thanks to the volunteers. Sad there are plans to close it. This is one place the Qld Government should be supporting.
If you are interested in nautical, this is the museum for you .. personally, I quite enjoyed it, with its historic pieces
Despite having COVID restrictions, this is still a great place to visit and plenty to see. Much of local maritime history to view. The Diamantina is the pinnacle exhibit but unfortunately COVID ru...
This was a pleasant surprise. We learned quite a lot from our visit. Loved being on the ship. Would recommend a visit to here.
An interesting maritime museum, having the advantage of being on the Brisbane River and incorporating an old dry dock. The permanent displays are quite good, albeit rather eclectic. You can go aboard ...
