Cape Byron Lighthouse is located at the higher part of Cape Byron. It was built in 1901 and is the most powerful lighthouse located at the eastern end of Australia. Walking at the Cape Byron Lighthouse, whale watching, and having a picnic and barbecue will all leave fond memories. Cape Byron was named after Captain Cook, who boarded Australia in 1770, in honor of the grandfather of the poet Sir Byron, a well-known navigator in the 1760s.
