Ate here two days in a row, love the olde pub atmosphere. The albacore core tuna salad is the best nicoise I&#39;ve had. Fun place to relax.

After a less than stellar experience at the Snug Pub in the Oak Bay Beach hotel, we decided to forget trying to park in Victoria and wandered in to the tiny town of Oak Bay. First couple of restaurants closed at 5. Ok, what about this pub? The menu online showed many tempting choices. Entering, we found quite a party underway at 6 in the evening! The locals were drinking up and the place was packed. There are several rooms, with the front being the true pub with high stools and the bar. In the back there are bigger tables, and an outside area. There is also an upstairs area. We squeezed in the back room, and even though it was busy, we were quickly presented with a menu and request for a drink order. Now, this is not going to be a drink review! We don&#39;t drink, except for the occasional cocktail, so you&#39;ll have to read another review about all the beer on tap. (Everyone we saw was slugging down Guinness anyway!) On this particular evening, knowing I ought to try something for the review, I ordered a hot blackberry/fruity tea with amaretto and Kahlua. It arrived with the liquor in a clear tall glass (like an Irish coffee glass) and the tea in a pot to pour on top. Ok, it was a weird choice! On to the food. Straight for the burger- with Brie, crispy onion, portabello mushroom, and truffle aioli (I&#39;m not sure I spelled that correctly!). It was awesome. They didn&#39;t ask how I wanted it cooked, but it came out with just a faint ribbon of pink in the middle. Just right. Others ordered the fish and chips- a large portion of fish with a bowl of fries. Also a turkey club sandwich on ciabbata, and a short rib sandwich with arugula, provolone, and carmelized onions on brioche with dipping jus. To. Die.For. Each sandwich offered a fry or salad. I chose the house salad, which proved to be arugula with a tart lemony dressing, which wasn&#39;t to my liking. Pre booked a table for 5 people,mwhen we arrived were shown to a very small table not suitable for 5 meals, asked to be moved, told as we had a minor with us , limited to where we could sit, not ideal at all wasn&#39;t asked about minor when booking, long wait for food.

Were here for dinner on what was a very busy night. Considering the crowd, the service was very good. Food was just OK, I had a lamb burger and partner the chicken pot pie....we both thought they had forgot the seasoning....perhaps the busy night. I have eaten here before and was always better. Will go again, everyone has a off night.
