Free historic Park, beautifully restored, easy walking. The grandparents watched the "Cisco Kid" show growing up, so we took them to see this park.

A must see in Carlsbad, CA! The historical ranch home was once owned by the famous Leo Carillo himself. A great spot for weddings and events. The City of Carlsbad has stabilized, preserved and restored many of the buildings on the 27 acre site. Historic structures at Rancho Carrillo Carlsbad include a visitors center, hand-crafted adobe buildings, hacienda, reflecting pool, cabana, cantina, carriage house tack shed, stable, barn and foundry and equipment shed. It can be found on the Citywide Trails System 4-mile long Rancho Carrillo Trail. Take a self-guided walking tours anytime and guided 90-minute walking tours are offered on Saturdays. Lots of parking. Don't forget your camera... There are tons of peacocks roaming the grounds and ready for photo opps!
I went to check this place out.. I like to walk around and thought that this place was a nice. They have peacocks EVERYWHERE and I had fun taking their pictures. They have some bldgs and for ME, a photographer, I think, that this place was a great place to photograph.
Great little area to learn a little history about Leo Carrillo. Very peaceful place to explore, and free so goodnifbyou are on a budget. Bring a picnic for the picnic tables and enjoy watching wild peacocks roam around.
