Photos of St. Nicholas Church

The Cathedral of St. Nicholas is the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Ceske Budejovice, located in the center of the town - the northeast corner of the Przemysl Ottoka II Square, adjacent to the Black Tower. The latter also serves as the bell tower of the cathedral. The church is very simple and low-key, with a statue of the pastor Jan Valerián Jirsík in front of it, and the atmosphere in the church is very quiet. In 1265, shortly after the construction of the city of Ceske Budejovice, the foundation of the church began to be laid, but it was not completed when it was officially put into use. Later, it was rebuilt several times. It was upgraded to a cathedral in 1785.
