Wang Tian'e Scenic Area is located on the southern part of Paektu Mountain's south slope. The name "Wang Tian'e" originates from a volcano here which is said to look like a swan. The Wang Tian'e Volcano is a huge volcano with a central eruption point and overflow basaltic volcanic cone. The underground magma overflowing from the volcanic eruption forms a lava platform. After weathering and erosion, a basalt grand canyon is created. Furthermore, the waterfalls in the scenic area are also a big attraction. Many of them cascade down the basalt rock cliffs to create special natural formations. Famous waterfalls at the site include the Mushroom Spring Falls, the Mother and Child Falls and the Nine Folds Spring Falls.
