Ancient Twin Pagodas
The twin pagodas, also known as Meilang Sisters Towers are located in Chengmai County, Hainan province. The spot is very local with humble and nice people, the landscape is stunning and the way to get there is wild specially if you ride an ebike. We love this place and the locals are very kind. Nice experience!

Explore the Chengmai Sister Towers and the 'Longevity Village' of Luoyi Ancient Village
The Hainan Meilang Sister Towers, also known as the Sister Towers, are almost known to everyone in Chengmai and have a history of more than 800 years. The 'Elder Sister Tower' is hexagonal and five-story, while the 'Younger Sister Tower' is square and seven-story. Compared with the two towers, the Elder Sister Tower is more atmospheric, and the Younger Sister Tower is more delicate. There is a Song Dynasty stone bridge between the two towers. These towers represent a father's love for his daughter.
Luoyi Ancient Village is a famous historical and cultural ancient village in Hainan, and it is also a famous 'Longevity Village' in Chengmai. The entire village is located between two dragon ponds, one south and one north, with houses built around the pond. It seems scattered and disorganized, but the layout is wonderful. The mottled walls, narrow bluestone alleys, ancient trees and wells, and volcanic stone brick walls outline a beautiful picture, telling the vicissitudes of time.

Leigong Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A pilgrimage to Lingao and Chengmai
Coming out of the Dongpo Academy, heading towards Lingao, tasted the famous roasted suckling pig of Lingao at noon, with crispy skin and tender meat, it was not bad. From Lingao to Chengmai, we visited Lingao Confucius Temple, Wenlan Cultural Park, Lingaojiao, Ancient Silver Waterfall, and arrived at Leigong Island in Chengmai in the evening. The scenery along the way was not too stunning, the western line tour of Hainan is about chasing the sunset, the sunset at Leigong Island was not bad, took some good photos.
On the way to the hotel, we encountered a "Sweet Potato Experience Center" in a village, which was very grand, dressed up sweet potatoes in suits, experienced a sweet potato dinner, egg tarts made from Qiaotou sweet potatoes, sweet potato juice, sweet potato noodles, it was really good for us who were a bit hungry!

If you can't travel around the world, come and enjoy Chengmai!
In winter, either go to a cold place to play in the snow, or go to a warm place to hibernate. I recommend a niche attraction - Chengmai. The beach here is very delicate, the coconut groves and sea water sway quietly, but there are not many pedestrians, you can enjoy a whole piece of sea that is not lost to Sanya.
/ Yongqing Temple Back Beach /
After passing the fragrant Yongqing Temple, the sea will suddenly appear in front of you. This is an excellent sea-viewing point in Chengmai. Some people say that it is like a privately hidden 'Little Maldives'.
/ Leigong Island /
Leigong Island is the northwest tip of Hainan. Here is a grand spectacle of half volcano and half sea water, and it is also known as the 'Volcano Lava Museum'.
/ Yubaogang /
If you want to drive on the coastal road, then go to Yubaogang by the way. This is a niche place known only to locals.
/ Red Tree Bay Wetland Park /
Not only the sea and the beach, Chengmai also has a vibrant wetland scenery. Among the lush shrubs, there are groups of water birds, flamingos, alpacas and other animals.
If you are going to travel to Hainan, why not check in the niche place Chengmai, here you will find different surprises~

The small town next to Haikou: Old Town
The first time I worked in another province was in Chengmai, taking advantage of the warm sunshine to go out and take pictures, the color of the old town's buildings in the sunny day is very impressive, I visited a few attractions in the old town in the afternoon, and also rode an electric car to the seaside, it was quite interesting.

Captured Lightning Storm in Hainan
Getting There - This pleasant beach is just outside of haikou, in laocheng, and is a great place to storm watch.
Attractions - It has a bar, BBQ, tents, and isn’t crowded.
This is a remote destination called ‘Yibin Beach’ in laocheng, Hainan. It’s a spot mostly known by locals, and it’s far less crowded than the busy beaches of Sanya or Wanning. It’s not as good for swimming, but great for scenery.

Yongqing Cultural Scenic Region Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The best coffee town in Hainan, the sea water is cleaner than Sanya, and the food is more delicious than Haikou!
In winter, either go to a cold place to play in the snow, or go to a warm place to spend the winter. Hainan is the most suitable place to spend the winter, but when it comes to Hainan, it seems to have been occupied by people. Not only Sanya, but even the once unpopular Wanning and Haikou are also full of tourists.
Recently, the editor found a small city on the west line of Hainan. There are few tourists, the scenery is amazing, the sea water is very clean, the price is half cheaper than Sanya, there are also ancient towers and fragrant coffee, and finally feel the joy of the island here!
10 people going to Hainan, but 9 of them will ignore it. It is very close to Haikou and can be reached by car in half an hour. The beaches here are very delicate, the coconut grove and the sea are quietly swaying, but there are not many pedestrians, you can enjoy a whole piece of sea that is not lost to Sanya.
The winter temperature is around 20°, short sleeves + thin coat can handle a winter. Lying in the yard rocking chair, blowing the comfortable sea breeze, listening to the waves. The key is that the air in the small city is really good, the nemesis of rhinitis, fresh into the lungs, no wonder it is the "hometown of longevity".
The small city is also a very unique place. Although it is in Hainan, there are ancient towers on the beach, like coming to Angkor Wat. The stone towers stand on the beach and in the forest. They are built with unique volcanic basalt, beautifully carved, and have a rare seaside Buddhist temple religious style.
It also has a large area of rainforest growth, flocks of flamingos inhabit the wetland, gathering into a romantic mist. The small city is a paradise for flamingos, countless flamingos, a vast expanse, like a flowing sunset, romantic, but the word is not enough to describe here.
The scattered ancient villages are more comfortable than Dali, known as the "Peach Blossom Land of Hainan Island". There is Baoliang Ancient Village with a history of more than 300 years; there is Luoyi Ancient Village built with volcanic rocks; there is Meilang Twin Towers built in the Yuan Dynasty, which are unique in Yunnan...
The small city also has the best coffee in Hainan, and you can enjoy a cup of hand-brewed coffee in the tropical breeze. As the earliest coffee-growing small city in Hainan, there are many young and active genes here, and the famous Hongkanling Pottery Garden, accompanied by the fragrant rainforest coffee.
This is Chengmai, Hainan, a quiet and quiet seaside slow city with few people.
Go and stay for a few days, take a look at the movie-like sunset in the sea in the evening, read a book with your head down by the quiet sea, and look up at the sea. The life you yearn for is nothing more than this.
In addition, the most touching thing about Chengmai is its price, which is not like Hainan. The cost of living is very low, fruits and seafood are very cheap, and the food is also very delicious. 11 yuan a bowl of beef brisket pickled powder, 8 yuan a plate of dumplings. And it's very convenient to go to Chengmai, it can be reached in more than 30 minutes from Haikou at the fastest, it's really a treasure!
As one of the last pure lands in Hainan, there is a sea comparable to Sanya, but the cost only needs half of Sanya, there are no crowded crowds, no hurried itinerary, but the treasure has always been ignored.
Lying on the beach watching the blue sky and white clouds, the shade of coconut trees, blowing the leisurely warm wind in winter, here is like a forgotten pure land. Having the whole sea and beach is no longer a luxury!

Shimei Village, Chengmai
In the sixth year of Datong in Nanliang (540 AD), Hainan was in turmoil. Feng Bao and Lady Xian led troops to conquer, crossing the Qiongzhou Strait to Zhizhou (now north of Shimei Village), landing and stationing troops in Chengjiang, Chengmai County, Dashengling (now Yan Chunling), Shimei, Qiongshan Xinpo and other places. In the eleventh year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty (591 AD), the court posthumously conferred Feng Bao as the Duke of Qiao, and Lady Xian was conferred as the Duchess of Qiao. In the first year of Renshou in the Sui Dynasty (601 AD), Lady Xian was ordered to come to Qiong. In order to commend Lady Xian for pacifying Lingnan and submitting to the court, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty specially granted 1500 households in Linzhen County (now Sanya City, Hainan Province) to Lady Xian as a soup and bath town. In the second year of Renshou in the Sui Dynasty (602 AD), Lady Xian died during her inspection of Hainan, in Shimei Village, Chengmai today. She was posthumously named Lady Chengjing and was buried near Fuchang Slope near Shimei Village, Chengmai. Feng Bao's descendants lived in the place of her death to guard her tomb. During the Tang Dynasty, Feng Bao and Lady Xian's descendants, Feng Zhidai, moved from Yazhou to this place, and Shimei Village gradually became a village.
Feng Bao and Lady Xian's 35th generation grandson, Feng Jinyong, was ordered to hold troops and conquer the south during the Jianyan period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1130), pacifying Lingnan and serving as the governor of Dingnan. In the first year of Shaoxing (1131), Feng Jinyong registered in Gonggui Township, Chengmai County, Fengpingdu Yitu Si Jiao Jing Village (that is, Shimei Village). Because Feng Bao and Lady Xian first landed in Hainan and camped in Shimei Village, and according to the records of the 'Hainan Feng Clan Genealogy', most of the Feng clan branches in various cities and counties in Hainan Province migrated from Shimei Village, Shimei Village is also known as 'Feng Xian Hainan First Village'.
Lady Xian (about 513 AD, some say 512 AD, 522 AD-602 AD), also known as Xian Ying, is generally referred to by her title as the Duchess of Qiao, also known as the Princess of Gaoliang, from Gaoliang County (now Maoming, Guangdong), a leader of the Li people (a branch of the Zhuang ancestors). She was an important political and military figure from the Southern and Northern Dynasties to the early Sui Dynasty in China.
Lady Xian married Feng Bao, the governor of Gaoliang, in her early years. At the age of twenty-three, she was elected as the leader of the Li people. Over the decades, she successfully made the surrounding tribes submit, and the area she governed extended from Yangjiang Yangchun in the east to parts of Guangxi in the west, and south to the Leizhou Peninsula and Hainan Island. In the second year of Yongding in the Chen Dynasty (558 AD), Lady Xian sent her son Feng Pu to pay homage to Emperor Wu of Chen, and Feng Pu was appointed as the governor of Yangchun. Later, Lady Xian personally led the army, together with the Chen army, to quell the rebellion of Ouyang Ge, the governor of Guangzhou, and was conferred as the Middle General and the Lady of Shilong, 'her Lu Bu is like the ceremony of the governor'. After the fall of the Chen Dynasty, Lady Xian was revered as the 'Holy Mother' by the various prefectures of Lingnan, protecting the territory and the people. Later, she led her people to submit to the Sui Dynasty, and was successively conferred as the Duchess of Songkang and the Duchess of Qiao. She suppressed the separatist forces of ethnic leaders and local tyrants in the local area, and vigorously promoted advanced Han production technology and culture. In the second year of Renshou (602 AD), Lady Xian died, and Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty posthumously conferred her as 'Lady Chengjing'.
Throughout her life, Lady Xian judged the situation and submitted to the Liang, Chen, and Sui dynasties, and was successively conferred by seven dynastic kings, effectively maintaining national unity and promoting ethnic unity. Both the 'Book of Sui' and the 'History of the North' have biographies of her.
