About Chicago

Chicago is one of the central midwestern United States' hot tourism cities and transportation hubs. Located on the banks of tranquil Lake Michigan, it is sometimes called "the Windy City". The skyscrapers of Chicago stand tall like a forest of buildings. Many of them are unique architectural landmarks that are a gorgeous representation of the region. All sorts of people historically have immigrated to Chicago, bringing their culture, food and music to the city, and have woven it all together into a brightly colored tapestry. The passion of baseball games and the beat of lively music are puzzle pieces that make up the city’s astounding energy. With regards to the field of public arts, Chicago is even more of a leader. Creative sculptures and brightly painted walls line public parks, green spaces and the city’s famous commercial district, the Magnificent Mile.

City Park
Millennium Park is a large public park in Chicago, Illinois. It is the most famous section of Grant Park, and is home to most of the park’s attraction highlights, namely the Cloud Gate sculpture. The park is one of the largest green roofs in the world, as it was built on top of parking garages and a railroad yard. Chicagoans take great pride in the park, and no expense is spared in keeping it clean and trim.

Hate waiting for elevators? You might want to consider finding yourself a job inside the former headquarters of Sears, Roebuck, and Company; it has 103 of them so, chances are, there will always be one waiting for you. The skyscraper, formerly known as the Sears Tower (a name which is still commonly used), is actually nine square buildings bundled together; an engineering strategy to help the 110 storey structure resist Chicago’s infamously high winds. When it finished construction in 1974, it was the world’s tallest building at 1,451 feet. The 110 storey building lost that title to the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998. The Skydeck, on the 103rd floor, allows visitors the best view of the city and provides an interactive experience. Those with a strong constitution can even step out into one of several glass boxes that hang over the building’s ledge.

Statue/Sculpture
The Cloud Gate is also known as The Bean because it looks like a bean. It is located in Chicago"s Millennium Park. The sleek exterior of this sculpture reflects the distorted Chicago skyline, making it a popular photography spot for tourists in Chicago. Cloud Gate is known as a symbolic and innovative work. The mirror effect of the statue is reminiscent of the distorting mirrors in previous amusement parks. But there is a significant use for it to make the giant Cloud Gate look much lighter.
