What a great discovery that we happened to meet this Chinese restaurant ..... when we were looking for a place to eat dinner in Christchurch. The first fried dumplings are especially delicious and highly recommended. The main dishes we ate were &#39;beef with Chinese mushrooms and black fungus&#39;, &#39;garlic chili shrimp&#39;, &#39;pork mapo tofu&#39;, which were all spicy and we ate with hot rice. The restaurant is full of locals including some Chinese customers, which I think shows the quality of the food here. The dinner was really great. We ordered drinks at the restaurant, but you can bring your own. Parking is a bit difficult, but you can park at the Beiguo shopping center not far away. Highly recommended here.

Busy restaurant with minimum staffing but the waiter was most helpful. We ended up with hubby having a dish off the room service menu and I (post mouth surgery) had the fish but soft vegetables off another dish. All beautifully cooked and the &quot;extra mile&quot; was really appreciated.

Just stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and had a great meal. They have $10 specials as well as a reasonable a la carte range. we chose the battered fish meal as opposed to the special fish &amp; chips so we got a freshly prepared meal rather than frozen pieces. The fish was perfect, not to fatty with crispy batter and the chips and salad were just right. The house &#39;savvy&#39; was really good for a house wine - could have easily gone another if we had more time. Friendly staff and atmosphere made it a great lunch

When you see the restaurant full of local Chinese, you will know that it offers real Chinese food. The food is delicious, with authentic Chinese dishes and Chinese tastes. the China Kitchen I have never been disappointed, just thinking about it makes me droopy. Staff were very hospitable and really good value for money, which makes this restaurant one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Christchurch. Take-out food is delicious and barbecue is also available.
