About Chuxiong Prefecture: Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture is situated in central Yunnan province. It is home to 26 ethnic minorities and the largest population of Yi people. The area is surrounded by picturesque mountains and has a pleasant climate. Artifacts of Yuanmou Man were found here, who lived in the region around 1.7 million years. It is therefore regarded as the birthplace of Chinese human civilization.
