What travelers say:"The Fukuoka Tower was completed in March 1989 for a year and two months at a cost of ¥6 billion. The Asia-Pacific Expo was held in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the city. The tower was 234 meters high, the highest in Japan's seaside. The tower is covered with more than 8,000 semi-reflector mirrors, showing a street view of Fukuoka. The tower is bright day or night. There is a viewing room at 116m and 123m height, overlooking Fukuoka and Hakata Bay. In July and August, the tower's lighting formed the Milky Way in the sky. In December, the tower was again shown in the Christmas tree. The tower's lighting won the 1999 North American Lighting Society's Outdoor Division'Paul Wattley' Award."
