Baoxiang Temple is a famous royal temple with a history dating back more than a thousand years. Once known as Zhaokong Temple, it was renamed Baoxiang Temple during the Northern Song Dynasty. During repairs of the Qitaiziling (Prince of Peace) Pagoda, more than one hundred sacred Buddhist objects and relics were unearthed. These artifacts have now become famous both inside and outside of China. A tooth from Buddha has been featured for many years now in the annual Buddha Light Festival, a local folk custom event that takes place at the Qitaiziling Pagoda. In 2009, Baoxiang Temple was rated as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
