Neolithic rock paintings in the border areas ~ Dawang rock cliff paintings
Passed by it a week ago and left with regret. Did not expect to come back to Malipo today. I live in the Dawangyan Hotel not far away. Once I have settled down, I can’t wait to see my respect.
It's very close from the highway, and you won't get lost. For more than ten minutes, there are dense forests along the way, with unknown big trees and slightly scented flowers. It's not difficult to climb, but there are a lot of steps, and you can walk down another concrete road, where there is a monument.
Experts believe that it is a work from the late Neolithic to the Bronze Age. There are 25 visible patterns painted in three colors of black, red and white. Among them are 13 humans, 3 cows and 1 animal. There are also 8 flower bud patterns and geometric patterns. It has relatively high historical, archeological and artistic value.
It has been announced as a cultural protection unit at the county, state, provincial and national level. It is also the top ten historical and cultural heritage of Wenshan Prefecture.
Standing on the rocks above the petroglyphs, you can also admire Malipo County.
In the county seat of Malipo County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, there is a small hill about 100 meters high, covered with dense pine trees, inconspicuous in the surrounding mountains.
However, on the top of this inconspicuous hill, there is a huge rock called "Dawang Rock."
The rock wall of Dawangyan is painted with rock paintings from the Neolithic period more than 4,000 years ago. It was designated by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit, and it is the most important cultural landscape in Malipo County.
Dawangyan rock paintings are composed of 25 patterns of various sizes and shapes, and are about 3 meters high from bottom to top. At present, the lower part of the rock paintings of King Dawang has been protected by a new wall, and ordinary tourists can only look up at some of the rock paintings outside the wall. You must open the door in the middle of the wall to get a full view of the rock paintings of Dawang Rock.
