Qianmen Street, aka Qian Men Da Jie 前门大街 in Chinese, is an 845-meter long street running south from Zhengyangmen Tower on the southern edge of Tiananmen Square, along the Beijing central axis. It is one of the last remnants of the commercial centres of the old Beijing. Qianmen Street was initially formed in Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911). By the time of Emperor Jiajing, the 12th Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) emperor, the street was dotted with guild halls built by different localities, providing houses to citizens from other parts of China intending to take the imperial exams. Qianmen Street became even more prosperous in the early years of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with the development of activities such as lantern fairs, theatres and tea houses.

四季民福烤鸭店(故宫店) located at Qianmen street. Address: (北京)南池子大街11号 It is the best roast duck I ever tried in my life. Place is a little bit overcrowded and you need to take a ticket. If you want to have lunch there- take ticket in the morning. If you want to have dinner- take ticket at lunch time. Because of Chinese new year many people traveled to Beijing and this place is very famous for its outstanding roast duck, we waited six hours. #beijingtravel #beijing #roastduck #烤鴨

Right next to the Qianmen street you can find huge hutong area with tones of small shops with souvenirs , restaurants and tiny cars running back and forward. Extremely quiet and nice area for slow walks. We have spent there more then 2 hours just discovering more and more interesting doors and corridors. The owner of the restaurant cooked food by himself. All dishes that we tried are super fresh and tasty. I extremely recommend you to order 糖醋里脊. This spot is HOT!!!! Best Beijing hot pot I ever tried. Traditional Beijing style soup with super fresh meat and vegetables. And their peanut souse with hundreds of ingredients. My favorite is sesame oil with garlic😅😅 Right food on the right time. It was almost -10 degree outside. And interior is super nice with great view and fashionable furniture. It is located at the central axis of Beijing City, Qianmen Street is a famous pedestrian street for shopping and sightseeing, running from the Archery Tower of Qianmen in the north to the turning of Tiantan Park in the south. It is 840 meters (about 919 yards) in length and 21 meters (about 23 yards) in width. It was called Zhengyangmen Street during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and finally got the present name in 1965. During the Qing Dynasty, there were many specialized outlets on either side of it, such as a meat market, cloth market and jewelry market. And there were also many craftsman workshops, warehouses and theatres in the Hutongs nearby. Now Qianmen Street becomes an important night life place for locals. After more than one year's renovation, it was reopened on August 7th before the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Qianmen Street is a symbol of genuine local culture. It has many of China's time-honored names. Visitors can enjoy a traditional Chinese way of life. Moreover, it has many international brands, such as H&M, Haagen-Dazs, Sephora, ZARA, Qggle, COSTS CAFÉ, and SK Jewelry. The most famous of China own names are as follows: Quanjude, Yitiaolong, and Duyichu, and Changchuntang. Various foods in Beijing Qianmen Street attracts lots of visitors. With roast duck taking the leading role, Quanjude has formed its regional cuisine with the feast of whole duck and more than 400 special dishes. It is enjoyed by people all over the world. Yitiaolong restaurant (original name was Yitiaolong mutton restaurant) is an authentic Muslim restaurant. It was first open to the public in 1785. The representative dishes are Golden Fried Prawns, Braised Ox Tail in Brown Sauce, fried crisp chicken, and so on. Duyichu, with history of 250 years, was evolved from a tavern. It is said that the name was granted by Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799) of the Qing Dynasty. Now this restaurant mainly offers baked wheat cake, fried dishes and roast dark. Changchuntang is a drugstore which has a history of more than 200 years. It deals in the Chinese traditional and western medicine, and provides patrons, pharmaceuticals via postal delivery services.

Qianmen Street is a real landmark of Beijing. It is located near Tiananmen Square. Here you will feel the atmosphere of old Beijing. It is better to go there during the day and then wait for the sunset. During the day, and in the evening, and in winter, and in summer - this street is beautiful at any time of the year! If there is some big event in Beijing, then there you can always see new things made especially for this event. For example, there was the Panda of the Olympic Games. Every time you come you find something new. In summer you can see multi-colored umbrellas overhead (on one of the small crossing streets), in winter - the red lanterns of the Chinese New Year. #urbanexplorer

There are plenty of options for Beijing duck when you're in the city, but if you ask the locals the place to be is Sijiminfu. Their main location, accredited by Michelin, lies on the beautiful QianMen Street. Address - 前门廊房二条18 Ambiance/Facilities - This location of sijiminfu is classic Chinese, with lots of round tables with lazy Susans all around. All the wait staff is professional and courteous. Highlights - You come to sijiminfu for the duck. It's really outstanding. The meat is juicy, not dry and the skin is crispy. All the condiments were great too. Besides the duck, there are plenty of other dishes on the menu. My favorite thing was the yogurt. Avg. Price per Person - 150 rmb Rating - 4.5 stars

前门大街 Qianmen street。 Another one walking street with numerous options for snacking. China has probably millions of walking streets. But this one located behind the Tiananmen square near to the subway station 前门 took a place in my photo collection because of beautiful architecture.
